Movie Night

Aurora didn't go to school today because of her ankle. Actually, she never got off the couch because it hurts to put weight on it. Since there is no school tomorrow due to teacher meetings we are planning on having a mother/daughter movie night tonight. I plan on going to the store and renting a couple of scary movies for us and making some popcorn. She prefers her popcorn air popped without any butter, so I have to use one of those old fashioned popcorn machines for hers, but mine is going to be the microwaved extra butter kind. It's okay though, because I'll drink a diet pop with it so that will cancel out the calories in the popcorn. What do you mean it doesn't work that way?

MOTHER/DAUGHTER TIME

Now that I have two children I try to make sure that I spend some quality mother/daughter time with my daughter. This can be as simple as going out for ice cream, going to lunch, cruising the mall or watching our favorite TV shows together. We try to have a movie/makeover night once a week were we give each other facials (i.e. the hot picture of me), pop some popcorn and watch a movie of her choice. It's usually a scary movie so we end up cuddling together on the couch with a blanket over our heads. One of our rituals is to watch Celebrity Paranormal Project together on Wednesday nights and Most Haunted together on Saturday nights. My daughter went to Prince Edward Island with a friend and her family this week so we missed watching Celebrity Paranormal together tonight, but she did call me to tell me that she missed me and remembered that it was our TV night and that she would be home for Most Haunted. We all want to raise independent kids, but it sure is nice to know that they miss you.
