Meet my future son in law, David Archuleta, American Idol contestant. My 14 year old daughter is in love with him. As I'm typing this she is sitting on the couch watching American Idol drooling over him. Teenagers eh! I admit he's a cute kid and a good singer. My daughter, like every 14 year old goes through these obsessions. Last month it was all about skirts, the month before that it was all about black clothes, next month it will be equestrian clothing. Any idea when these phases ends? Oh, you mean I have a lot more years of this....gee thanks.

Wikipedia
I think the Internet is a valuable information tool. When I am looking for something I away use Google and Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a wonderful resource for information about everything and anything you can possibly imagine. For an example, they have a section on Nouveau Riche which explains the term "Rags to Riches" and gives examples. These examples include not only well known stories Cinderella and Snow White, it also uses American Idol as an example of making it big. Wikipedia is also a great resource for your kids homework. My daughter uses it all the time and we even have it bookmarked. The next time you need to look something up for you or your child's homework my advice is to use Wikipedia.

Sibling Love
It makes me so happy when I see my two children being affectionate to each other. Every night when my son goes to bed he has to go give me , his father and his sister a kiss goodnight. He also tells us that he loves us and waits for us to say , "I love you too Aidan". The other night he sister forgot to say "I love you too" back to him. He stood there and repeated , "I love you Aurora" over and over and over again until she finally remembered to say "I love you too Aidan".
The Problems of A Teenager
I've mentioned before about my daughters acne problem. We've decided to give natural acne treatments a try. Heck, we've tried almost everything else, so why not. She has very sensitive skin and is allergic to a lot of soaps and creams so this might be the best option for her. She really wants to have her face cleared up before the big formal dance at the end of June. Oh yeah, we are still searching for that "WOW" dress she wants for the dance.

Acne is A 4 Letter Word
Acne, the dreaded 4 letter word to teenagers. Most teenagers experience acne at some point, but what to do about it? That's my daughters problem, she has been experiencing bad acne for the past couple of years. Heredity is great isn't it, both myself and her father had acne as teenagers, so there was no way she wasn't going to be plagued with it. She has tried everything and has even gotten doctor prescriptions for it, but nothing seems to work. Has anybody else had bad acne and what did you do to help it?
Dinner, Dance and Party
My daughter is going to be graduating in a few months. No, she's not graduating from High School, she's graduating from Junior High School. The school that she goes to now has been the same school she has been going to since kindergarten, so in the Fall she will be going to a new school for the first time. She is going to be having a Junior High Graduation Dance and Dinner with all the bells and whistles at her school. To mark this special event in her life I was thinking about having a graduation party for her. Nothing as extravagant as a high school graduations party, but a smaller scaled down get together with family and friends. I was even thinking about ordering some graduation invitations from Vista Print for the party. Vista Print offers a great selection of products for all your printing needs, including invitations, businesses cards, and car magnets, just to name a few. You can even customize them to fit your needs. With Aurora graduating only in a few months if I want to throw this shindig I guess I better get planning, right after we go dress shopping for a new dress to wear to the dance.

High Cholesterol
I found out today that my 14 year old daughter has high cholesterol. Last year her cholesterol level was 5.1, which is border-line high, now it's a 7, which is high. The doctor said he has never had a 14 year old with such high cholesterol in his office before. For now, we are trying to lower her cholesterol level with diet, which she is so happy about (that was sarcasm). If that doesn't work then we have to try medicine to control it. With our family history of heart disease this is something that we definitely have to take serious. If I don't visit your today it's because I have so much stuff to read about trying to lower her cholesterol.

Confessions of a Mother of a Teen Aged Drama Queen

For all you mothers out there of sweet little girls, enjoy it while you can because eventually your sweet little girls grow up to be teenagers. That's when all the real fun begins! You know what I'm talking about, all the Drama Queen stuff. Now I must admit I think my daughter is a great kid, but I might be a little biased. It's the whole "Teen Aged Drama Queen" stuff that drives me batty. I honestly don't remember being such a drama queen when I was her age, but maybe I'm just in denial. What do you think, have teen aged girls become bigger drama queens or am I just missing my sweet little girl who thought the world revolved around her mommy?

CAMERA CRITTERS #2

There was some debate on which picture to post for this weeks Camera Critters. I had it narrowed down to two different pictures, but I decided to go with this one mainly because I have no idea what the heck this animal is. This is a picture of something my daughter saw at Disney's Animal Kingdom. She thinks it's a Long Horn Steer, but isn't sure. Does anybody know what the heck kind of animal this is?

TIME CAPSULE
Juliana tagged me for this Time Capsule meme created by Picturing of Life.
* The Time Capsule is a container for preserving historical records to be discovered at some future time.
* A Time Capsule is a historic cache of goods and/or information, usually intended as a method of communication with people in the future.
1. Copy from "~Start Copy~" until "~End Copy~".
2. Post at your site(s) about "What you would like to put in your Time Capsule & Why" --> something that has a special value in your life or something that will remember you as a person.
3. Feel free to help me spread this Time Capsule by putting the "Time Capsule badge" at your sidebar blog and please tag as many friends as you can. You can get the code in here
~ End Copy ~
If there is one picture that I would put in my time capsule, it would have to be this one, Aurora and Aidan. This picture was taken when Aidan was only a week old and I love how Aurora is looking down at her baby brother.

I'm going to tag all of my blogging friends for this meme. What picture would you put in your time capsule?

BLOOD & BRIBERY

I'm taking my daughter for blood tests today. She is so not happy about this. SHE HATES NEEDLES! She usually has it done once a year, so you would think she would be used to it by now, but no, it's a traumatic experience for her every time she has it done.. She hates having to fast too. All night long she was whining every time I ate something or drank something. So basically my morning is going to involve me holding my 14 year old daughter down so that the nurse can stick a needle in her and take some blood. Sounds like a good time, eh? Ever try to hold a 14 year old down? Not an easy task. I think I'll try the usual and bribe her to stay still while they take the blood. Hmmmmmm....I wonder how much it's going to cost me?

THE SAGA CONTINUES
Continuing the saga of how my daughter is not impressed that I'm hot, while I picked my daughter up from school today for confirmation class we saw her bus driver. He smiled and waved at me. Aurora rolled her eyes and informed me that people should not think her mother is hot. She also informed me that I should be like the other mothers and should have to buy wrinkle cream. I understand where she is coming from, but it is not my fault that I am younger than most of the other mothers of kids her age. I think from now on I'm going to have to start wearing baggy sweats and stained t-shirts to make her happy.
MAKING COFFEE IS DANGEROUS IF YOU'RE 14

I asked my dear sweet 14 year old daughter to make me a cup of coffee. She doesn't make the best cup of coffee, but hey at least I'm being waited on right? So she's in the kitchen and all I hear is her screaming "There's a fire!". I get up and run into the kitchen just in time to stop her from throwing water on the stove. It seems there was some grease on the burner left over from supper and it caught on fire. I grab the salt and start dumping it on it and fortunately it was just a small fire and it went out quickly and not much of a mess. This is when I go on and explain to her "NEVER EVER THROW WATER ON A GREASE FIRE". She was totally bewildered by this fact, but at least she knows now. I think from now on I'm going to make my own coffee.

I'M HOT
Remember that TGIF post I did a few posts down? Sure you do! Anyway, I mentioned in it that I saw my daughters school bus driver today. When my daughter came home from school I told her that I saw him today and she said, "Yeah, I know" in that annoyed way only a teen aged girl can say. Then she goes on telling me that basically her bus driver told her that she has a hot looking mom. I don't think she was impressed by that. No, I'm pretty sure she wasn't impressed at all. Me on the other hand, I've been having a blast teasing her that her bus driver thinks her mom's hot.

SHARING CLOTHES
I've mentioned before that me and my teen aged daughter often wear each others clothes. It's not that we are both skinny or even that we both wear plus size clothing, it's just that most of our clothes fit both of us. There are rules to this clothes swap thing though. There are certain clothes of Aurora's that she doesn't like me wearing, like her hip huggers and I don't like her wearing some of my tops. Today was one of those days where it was "That's my top you're wearing". She was getting ready for school and had on my new top, which I think is a little low cut for a 14 year old and I told her that she had to change. Yeah, I got the "But, you wear my clothes" look. Lets just say wore a different shirt to school after I gave her my "Mom" look.

PLAYING NICELY TOGETHER
While I was busy today trying to get my computer set up my kids were great! They played so nicely together that I almost thought they were up to something. We got some large boxes with a new table and chair set that a good friend of my husbands gave us and the kids made houses out of them. They played in them for a long time and made them all comfy inside with pillows and blankets and toys. They now want to go shopping for teak furniture to furnish their houses.

SORRY
Sorry I haven't visited and so late posting today, but it's been a busy day. I had to take my daughter to an appointment at the hospital, don't worry she's fine, it's just a monthly thing she has to do. I also finally broke down and got a new tower for my computer because mine was on it's last leg. I'm going to be busy the next few days setting it up, but I promise to try to make to time visit you all. Have a great weekend!

ANNOYING LITTLE BROTHER
I have the typical teen aged daughter. She loved music, clothes and makeup. What she hates in having her little brother in her bedroom! When she's in school he loves to go into her room and get into her stuff. Hey what are 3 year old little brothers for if not to annoy older sisters right? Last night she came to me and asked me to buy her an alarm system monitoring for her room. Can't you just feel the love?
