Happy Mother's Day

I could post a poem or even a song about what being a mother means to me, but I think the best way is to show you. Here are my children, my reason for smiling, for laughing, for being the person that I am today. They are the most precious gifts I could ever receive and I consider myself truly blessed because of them.

I want to wish all my mommy blogging friends a Happy Mother's Day.

I'm Allowed To Sing This Song

Remember my previous post about my mini Simon Cowell and how he hated my singing? Well, I think I've found a song that he doesn't mind me singing along to, heck he even sings along with it too.

My Mini Simon Cowell

My three year old son is a music critic. He's a mini Simon Cowell. When I'm working on the computer I like to listen to music on my MP3 player, and yes sometimes I even sing along to the songs. That did not go over well with my son yesterday. Most of the music on my MP3 is older stuff, and I was listening and singing along to Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. As soon as I started singing he started hollering, "No, stop it, I don't like it!". I wonder if it was my singing or just the song he didn't like? Nah....it was my singing.

Now I'm not a big fan of the video, but I love this song. If anyone was wondering the song was released in 1984 when I was 13, so I'm not that old, I just enjoy the older music.

Heads Or Tails #37

With Mother's Day coming up next Sunday my kids have been asking me what I want for Mother's Day. This got me to thinking, what do I want for Mother's Day?

Do I want flowers?

Do I want breakfast in bed?

I don't want either of those. This is all I'll ever need or want for Mother's Day.

Sibling Love

It makes me so happy when I see my two children being affectionate to each other. Every night when my son goes to bed he has to go give me , his father and his sister a kiss goodnight. He also tells us that he loves us and waits for us to say , "I love you too Aidan". The other night he sister forgot to say "I love you too" back to him. He stood there and repeated , "I love you Aurora" over and over and over again until she finally remembered to say "I love you too Aidan".

Hiking

We took the kids for hike the other day and I got some great photos of the brook. I kids loved walking in the woods. We even brought the fishing rods, but no luck. We didn't catch anything. We still had a good time and Aidan keeps asking when we can go for another hike.

What's My Name?

It seems that my 3 year old has discovered my name, no not Mommy or even Tammy. He has gotten into the habit lately of calling me "T". This is what the children that I babysit call me, and since there is always someone else's kid here, he has started calling me "T". Man, does it ever drive me batty when he does that. I refuse to answer him when he calls me "T", and I say to him, "What's my name?" He says, "Mommy", but then goes right on calling me "T". Arrghhh! I understand it's just a phases he's going through, but still it drives me batty!

Ice Cream Face

What else is blogging for other than to post cute pictures of our kids? I couldn't resist posting this one of Aidan eating an ice cream cone today. I think he got more ice cream on himself and the couch then in him.

WHAT LITTLE BOYS ARE MADE OF

I'm sure most of you have heard of this nursery rhyme before.

"What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails,
And puppy dog tails,
That's what little boys are made of."

This is especially true with my son. He came in the house yesterday with a worm and preceded to chase me around the house with it yelling, "WORM WORM WORM!!!". I'm not afraid of worms, but for him I pretended to be.

MY LITTLE NINTENDO FREAK

My three year old son loves video games. I wonder where he got that from (cough .. ahem .. daddy)? He plays Nintendo Wii or Nintendo Game Cube while his daddy is playing PS2. We have two TV's in the TV room so they both can play together. He actually is pretty good at it, Aidan I mean. I know he's only three, but since he is so good at video games, and he kept taking his sister's Nintendo DS, we bought him one of his own a little while ago. It's great for times when he has to sit still, like when he was sitting in the waiting room with his dad today waiting for me while I was with the doctor. It definitely is a great way to keep him amused.

AIDAN + MARKER = MESS

When telling a 3 year old what he is not allowed to do you should be very precise. When you catch him marking on the fridge and you tell him he isn't allowed to mark on the fridge you should also tell him he is not allowed to mark on the dogs either.

I was a FOOL to think that even though everyone else in my house was sick last week except Aidan, that he might not get sick. Wrong....the little monkey is sick now.

BIG BOY HAIRCUT

I finally did it! I gave Aidan a big boy haircut. To the dismay of many I cut off all those long curls of his. It was getting too unruly and to tell you the truth I was getting fed up with strangers coming up to him and touching his head.

What do you think? He still has the curls, but hopefully now people will be able to resist the urge to touch my child's head.

PLAYING NICELY TOGETHER

While I was busy today trying to get my computer set up my kids were great! They played so nicely together that I almost thought they were up to something. We got some large boxes with a new table and chair set that a good friend of my husbands gave us and the kids made houses out of them. They played in them for a long time and made them all comfy inside with pillows and blankets and toys. They now want to go shopping for teak furniture to furnish their houses.

ANNOYING LITTLE BROTHER

I have the typical teen aged daughter. She loved music, clothes and makeup. What she hates in having her little brother in her bedroom! When she's in school he loves to go into her room and get into her stuff. Hey what are 3 year old little brothers for if not to annoy older sisters right? Last night she came to me and asked me to buy her an alarm system monitoring for her room. Can't you just feel the love?

SICK TODDLER = TIRED MOMMY

Aidan has an ear infection so all you moms out there knows what that means, no sleep. He was up all night crying and I think we both may have gotten only about 3 hours of choppy sleep. I am so tired that it's getting hard for me to keep my eyes open. If I don't get 8 hours of sleep I'm a bear, but I am so tired that I can't even be cranky, something my husband probably appreciates. It's almost time for Aidan's medicine and then me and him are going to bed to see if we can get more than a couple hours of solid sleep.

STILL MISSING AURORA

I was talking to my daughter today on the phone. It took me a long time to get through, but I finally did. She actually was on The Tower of Terror ride at Disney World at the time so the reception on the cell phone wasn't the great. She's having a blast! I think they are leaving Florida on Friday and it will take a few days to drive all the way home to New Brunswick. I just hope she's home before school starts again on Monday, alright I just miss her a lot and I wish she was home soon. She's suppose to call me tomorrow, but you know teenagers, calling mom isn't a priority with them. Aidan wanted to talk to Aurora on the phone too today. I think he misses her, but he's having a blast sneaking into her room and playing with her stuff.

MY SICK LITTLE GUY

I'm suppose to be talking to you about medicare part d, but when since my little guy is sick it's hard to do anything. He has a horrible cold and is really cranky. Last night he was up most of the night crying and coughing. What is it with kids wiping their nose on their sleeves? I have to keep changing his shirt because he keeps using his sleeves instead of the tissues I gave him. I think today is going to be another day of laying on the couch, cuddling my little guy and watching Thomas the Tank Engine over and over and over again.
