Looking For Coupons

A great way to save money is by using coupons. I have several favorite coupon websites that I go to to order and print coupons. I recently found a new way to get some great coupons. Facebook! I know you're thinking how do you get coupons off of Facebook, but it's quite simple. All you need to do is search for your favorite brands and a lot of them have great coupons you can order for simply liking their page. I recently gottenbcoupons two boxes of hair dye, coupons bread, and coupons for free salad dressing. I haven't found any coupons for feather flags, but the amount of companies now using Facebook you never know what kind of coupons you can find there.

The next time you log into your Facebook account start searching for your favorite brands and snag some coupons!

Camera Critters #164

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty.

We recently gotten a new tank for our pet turtle Alex from my husbands twin brother. He also gave us a algae eater too help keep the tank clean. We were worried at first that they wouldn't get along, but they seem to become fast friends. This is a good shot of them here where you can seem them both. The algae eater likes to stick to the back wall and he's so hard to see back there sometimes you need a spotting scopes to find him because he gets so camouflaged against the dark parts of the back wall.

Summer Skincare

We all long for long hot summer days after such a harsh winter. We want to lie and bask in the sun, but remember that the sun can be harsh on your skin and you need to take extra care of it during the summer months. No body like wrinkles and we use creams like revitol to get rid of them, but with some easy preventive tips you can help avoid getting wrinkles this summer from the sun.

1. Keep hydrated
2. The sun is strongest from 10 am till 4 pm so keep your exposure to the sun at these times at a minimal.
3. Use a high SPF sunscreen
4. Wear a hat and sunglasses
5. Moisturize

Enjoy your summer and keep your skin protected.

Homemade Rolls Recipe

My family loves fresh made rolls and here is one of my favorite recipes for it.

Basic White Rolls
1 package of dry yeast
1 teaspoon white sugar
1/2 cup lukewarm water

Sprinkle yeast and sugar on the lukewarm water and let stand 10 minutes and then stir well.

3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons white sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt

Heat together in pan until margarine is melted and let sit until lukewarm and then add yeast mixture.

In separate bowl pour liquid mixture and add 2 1/2 to 3 cups of flour one cup at a time beating until smooth. Knead until forms a smooth round ball. Place in warm spot and let rise in a greased bowl covered with cloth for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Shape into rolls and place in greased pan and let rise again for about 30 minutes. Bake at 375F until golden brown.

This recipe takes some time to make, but they are definitely well worth it and your family is going to love them!

Happy Victoria Day

Happy Victoria Day! It's the unofficial first long weekend of summer and that means barbecues, picnics, and beaches. My kids love all of those things and thanks to my weight loss of over 50 pounds with sensa I don't mind going to the beach anymore.

I hope everyone has a great Victoria Day and has enjoyed the long weekend and the beginning of a wonderful summer!

How Dad's Can Plan Kid's Parties

Whatever situation you have landed in, it doesn’t matter! You and your units are in desperate need of some serious galvanisation! If you, like me are a Dad in full time work and you have been given this Himalayan expedition-esque weekend task – then don’t panic! We’ll get through this together.
Just remember this famous adage ‘There are 3 ways to get things done’: (we’re going to mention 4 – but discuss 2!)
1.) Do it yourself,
2.) Hire someone to do it,
3.) Forbid your kids to do it,
or 4.) Get your kids to do it!

Task No.4 should be undertaken with extreme caution. Chaos may ensue! This is not an option we can discuss in a post so small – sorry you’re on your own there - But hey, it’ll be fun!
So –
1.) The DIY kids party checklist
This is no mean feat – if your units have multiplied – you may consider the secret mission Code Name- OPERATION: INTHEBAG.
Let’s face it, the majority of Dad’s in the world are very “last minute creatures” when it comes to family events. We love our kids, we love our other half’s – but frequently we forget ‘the detail’.
For those of us that aren’t early risers might I add - Option 2 may be more appropriate for you!

OPERATION ‘INTHEBAG’:

Rule No.1 – Party Bag Essentials

I’m not covering the invites whatsoever or extraneous exertions that go into organising the party or the venue – I am going to cover one essential aspect – the party bag.
All activities must be completed in absolute secret – this is especially true if there is more than one unit controlling your life. Think about it! You are celebrating the birthday of one particular sibling, whilst preparing everything…even if you have balanced out the presents / items / sweeties somewhat to create the illusion of equality…the other sibling will automatically be programmed with the following inherent survival logic:
(I say logic – I mean nihilistic behaviour!)

Sibling’s thought process at kid’s party: “I like it!” translates as ‘It’s mine!’
Sibling’s thought process at kid’s party: “If I can take it off you” translates as ‘It’s mine!’
Sibling’s thought process at kid’s party: “If I use to be the owner or I recognise it well” surprisingly translates as: ‘It’s mine!’
“If it’s yours and I half inch it – it’s mine”

And don’t forget: The inability to share one’s own toys at the other siblings birthday party:

This mentality is often thus: “If it is in fact mine – it must never appear to be yours – you cannot play with it for a second – I don’t care that it is your birthday”….”however, if it’s broken you can have it! It’s your birthday afterall!”

Tools you will need: Grandmother or baby sitter essential for 2 hours of the day!

So – purchasing ‘secret squirrel’ party supplies is the way to go! I asked my son a few months back…at the age of 2 1/2 (he’s been to about 8 kids parties by now)…I asked him “What’s your favourite thing about kid’s parties?” A glazed vacant expression took hold with some staring and zoning out, I decided to go into a little more detail:
~“Ok, so what about the party bag? What’s your favourite thing inside a birthday party bag? Is it toys? Whistles? Crayons? Sticke……”, I began ~ “CAKE!” An instant retort! “CAKE!” (No thought process needed there whatsoever! Good answer!) Sweet! Plan and objective met!
It’s a fact! The most memorable element of most children’s parties is the party bag! And the best thing inside the party bag is that last delightful endorphin releasing taste of the birthday party. The gorgeous birthday party cake!!!! This is where I tend to focus my efforts! Fact: As long as you have good cake, the rest of the party bag contents are subsidiaries. Even if you have the kids party at your house and haven’t hired out a venue – get yourself a good party bag with cake and you’re onto a winner! I find that taking a few mins to buy up some essential items at the local shop a godsend – I tend to take stock of anything colourful and cheap such as penny sweets, pirate hats, bubble blowing machines etc – But I am safe in the knowledge that enlisting grandma to bake that family recipe will save my backside from tantrums and resentment. DIY party planning for Dad’s is more like relying on others – it’s a very rare breed to find someone who will do, plan and facilitate everything themselves. Once upon a time as a stay up time I ventured into this rare discipline – it was enlightening to say the least!

2.) Option 2: The Lazy (lazier) Approach
I thought the best thing to do was jot down a few resources that have been essential to me in the past. In all seriousness they have really helped us plan events like this as a family, especially now that I and my wife are now both in fulltime work.
They are:
Parteaz – A childrens party supplies website based in my territory of the UK that provides cheap party bags and fillers, see here: http://www.parteaz.co.uk/16-party-bags. The wife and I generally get home after the shops are shut - our shopping day is Saturday and more often than not this means domesticity takes precedence. I found that Parteaz were reliable – they delivered within 3 days. I did just miss out on the FREE delivery option because I grabbed some bargains under £50. They have some lovely kids party supplies, but knowing what I know – I went straight to the party bag filler section. Here I was able to basically add items to basket and choose only what I really wanted – say for instance you know which kids have accepted the party invitation…you know their likes and dislikes –I was able to use Parteaz to cater for everyone individually. I thought this was really neat – You remember those polystyrene aeroplane gliders as a kid? They sell them dirt cheap – only 23p! I thought that was amazing! I considered the Pirate pack – but it ended up as being too expensive for me (though I really wanted it for the kids). I think as it is my eldest boy’s birthday in August I’ll be looking into buying some of those Disney Cars Bubbles (He’s going through the Lightening McQueen phase still). Having said all this I still believe the cake is the winning factor! And they can supply those too! All your lazy party planning efforts in one place!

Party Kiosk - http://www.partykiosk.co.uk. Not used this one myself yet, but I intend to - it seems like another trustworthy party supplies site that offer various unique items.

Saving Money On Prom

As a mother of a teenaged daughter attending her first prom next month I found out just how expensive it can be. My daughter's boyfriend is graduating this year and asked her to go to prom with him. Since my daughter is only in grade 11 I didn't expect I would have to think about prom this year but alas I do. I found out a couple of thinks when it comes to teenaged daughters and prom. Firstly it's all the talk about, and secondly it's very expensive. Sure I'm used to the price of clothes for teenaged girls from hip hop clothes to the latest brand of jeans, but when it comes to prom dress the other clothes I have bought for my daughter in the past seems like a real deal.

I found out prom dresses can be as expensive as wedding dresses. When I was prom dress shopping with my daughter I actually saw prom dresses that were more expensive than my wedding dress I wore . But it doesn't stop there at the prom dress. There is also shoes, purse, jewelry, hair and makeup to think of too. Of course prom is usually once in a lifetime event so scrimping on the cost of it may seem a little silly, but it's not. You can save yourself money on prom by looking for sales, purchasing a second hand dress, or even finding a store that rents them. Another way to save is by doing your daughters hair and makeup yourself or if you have a friend who is a hairdresser asking them to do it as a special favor.

Prom is a special event, but in this economy saving money everywhere you can is a must.

Monster High Walkie Talkies Review

One of the hottest new things with girls is Monster High from Mattel. We recently got a chance to try out one of their new toys in the Monster High line, Monster High Walkie Talkies from Sakar.

About Monster High Walkie Talkies -

- comes in a pack of two
- flexible safety antenna
- push to talk button
- on/off switch
- batteries included
- morse code button
- light and perfect size for kids
- for ages 7 +
- costs around $20

My thoughts about Monster High Walkie Talkies -

The Monster High Walkie Talkies were a huge hit in my house. Not only with Joycelynn, but also with Aidan so just because they may seem to be a girl toy, boys like them also. The kids love playing with them. They used them in hide-n-seek, to go on pretend adventures, and to simply talk to each other even if they were in the same room. I love the fact that they used their imagination with them. One of their numerous pretend adventures they went on with them is looking for dinosaurs. They actually found one, which in reality was our dog, but I loved the fact that they used their imagination and went on a long dinosaur finding adventure. I also like the fact that they are light and the antenna is flexible so it's much safer for kids to play with. Another great thing about them is that they can be either and indoor or an outdoor toy. They can play with them inside on a rainy day or take their adventures outside. Monster High Walkie Talkies are definitely a toy that is going to be played with for a long time in my house.

Sunbow Sunscreen Products Review

Being parents we worry about our children and want to protect them. With summer almost upon us one thing we can do to protect our children is to make sure they wear the proper sunscreen. Sunbow Sunscreen has come out with a line of children's sunscreen that will not only protect your children, but will also make it fun for them to wear it.

According to KidsHealth.org, most kids rack up between 50% and 80% of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18. With the right precautions, such as applying Sunbow Sunscreen to your children’s delicate skin, you can greatly reduce their chance of developing skin cancer. The strong UVA/UVB barriers without chemical actives such as Oxybenzone or Octinoxate, make Sunbow an absolute must have not only for the summer months but for year round usage.

Sunbow Sunscreen has three great sunscreen products, Sunbow Zinc Oxide Cream, Sunbow Sunscreen Spray, and Sunbow Sunstick. Here are two of them that we recently tried.

Sunbow Sunscreen Spray

- SPF 30
- Provides a non Oxybenzoate formula with Homosalate (Organic Compound)
- Antioxidant protection
- Continuous hydration
- Bubble gum fragrance
- Water resistant
-Hypoallergenic
- Comes in SpongeBob SquarePants (yellow), Dora the Explorer (pink), and Deigo (blue)
- SRSP $9.99

Not only does my children like this sunscreen, but I like it also. I prefer spray sunscreen opposed to the cream kind because it's less waste. You don't put a gob of it on your hand and then after you are done putting it on your child find out there is still a lot left over. This doesn't happen when you are using spray sunscreen. The kids loved the fact that it's comes in their favorite cartoon characters and that it goes on a color and when you rub it in the color disappears. It's like magic to them. They also like the smell of it. I also found that it's non-greasy. This is one sunscreen that I would definitely recommend to others.

Sunbow Sun Stick

- SPF 45
- Antioxidant protection
- Continuous hydration
- Bubble gum fragrance
- Comes in SpongeBob SquarePants (yellow) and Dora the Explorer (pink)
- Tear free
- Water resistant
-SRSP $7.99

I love using the stick sunscreen when it comes to places like on the face. It's so simple to use and because it's a stick you don't have to worry about getting it in your kids eyes or mouth. The kids thought it was great and it was easy enough to use that they can put it on their self. If your kids don't like putting sunscreen on their face like mine then this is the product for you.

You can find more about and buy Sunbow sunscreen products at www.sunbowsunscreen.com and www.drugstore.com.

Freshen Up Your Home This Spring With Febreze

With Spring in full swing it's so nice to have warm temperatures, sunshine, and fresh air. Unfortunately after such a long Winter some rooms in our homes like the basement, storage room, garage, laundry room, and a lot of other rooms don't quite smell as nice as the fresh Spring air outside. Febreze can help you with that though. Febreze has a great lineup of products that can help you freshen up your home.

Febreze offers a wide selection of products that can freshen your air and eliminate car, laundry, and home odour.

Febreze NOTICEables
If you can't get enough in a spritz, try surrounding yourself with freshness for the whole month, every month! Febreze NOTICEables is an alternating scented oil warmer you simply plug into any outlet for 30 days*.

It alternates between two complementary scents all day so you don't get used to the same scent. In addition to living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens, try it for background odours like mustiness and pet smell.

I like plug in air fresheners because you can use them in places where you don't have a place to set an air freshener down. You can simply plug them and and no one notices them so they think you house smells that good without any help.

Febreze Air Effects
Part of leading a fresh lifestyle is knocking out negativity right in its tracks. When something stinky gets you down, get rid of it and freshen up the room right away with Air Effects. It’s like a breath of fresh air because it actually sweeps away stifling odours from the air and leaves only a clean, refreshing scent.

Quickly spray away tough bathroom, cooking odours and more. With over 18 everyday and seasonal scents, everyone’s sure to find one that they’ll love.

This air freshener is great for when someone stops by unexpected. Whenever I notice someone pulling into my driveway I simply give the house a little spray and my home smells wonderful for company.

Febreze Candles
Announce your love for freshness to the world-or to everyone who visits your home, anyway. Febreze Candles are so beautiful you’ll want to set them out on counters, mantles and end tables*. The flame gives off a warm, welcoming glow while the Febreze core releases odour neutralizers as it burns. Each candle can burn for up to 30 hours and the refreshing scent lingers long after you blow it out. Try a candle in the kitchen to eliminate cooking smells and in the living room for other everyday odours, like odours from pets. You can even choose a different candle scent for each room.

I love candles! They make a great decor item and because these candles are scented air fresheners they do two jobs, they look nice and they make the room smell wonderful.

Febreze Set & Refresh
There’s a new way to keep your home Febreze fresh. It’s Febreze Set & Refresh. This new air freshener eliminates odours while releasing a fresh scent.

Set & Refresh lasts noticeably longer than the leading cones because it slowly releases scented oils. Also, the specially designed Set & Refresh looks attractive for the entire time it freshens your home

These are the newest and neatest thing in the Febreze collection. They are very stylish so they will fit in any decor and because they use oil scents you can simply place them and forget about them.

Febreze Fabric Refreshener
It’s the perfect companion for a positively refreshing person (like you). That’s because the fine mist of Febreze Fabric Refresher eliminates odours from fabric and air for freshness that fills your home. Try it as a part of your regular cleaning routine by misting upholstery, curtains, carpet and the air as you move through every room.

This is a mother's and any pet owners best friend! When it comes to couches, mattress, and any other thing you can't fit into the washing machine this is the product to use to get it smelling better. You can fit a sofa in your washing machine, but with the help of Febreze Fabric Refreshener it can smell like you did!

You can find out more about these and the rest of Febreze's great line up of products at their website.

The Yummy Mummy Club is having a contest right now where you can a $250 Spring Renewal Gift from Febreze! Stop on over and enter to win today!

Mother's Day Crafts

Mother's Day is shortly upon us and on Saturday I plan on tearing my kids away from the lcd samsung tvs and their Saturday morning cartoons and doing Mother's Day crafts with them. My children's grandmother loves to get handmade things from her grandkids and I found a great section of Mother's Day crafts on the Home Made Simple website. There is 12 different craft ideas and I'm going to get the kids to each pick one to make. Not only will their grandmother love the gifts they make, but the kids will have fun too and it's a great way for me to spend some quality time with them.

Dreams Of Glass Beautiful And Unique Jewelry & Art

Being a mom doesn't mean you can't be fashionable. Part of being fashionable is making a statement about who you are. I love jewelry, but not traditional boring jewelry. I like to make a statement about who I am with unusual jewelry and I found a great place for that carries not only unusual, but also beautiful jewelry. Dreams Of Glass creates beautiful Hand Blown Glass Jewelry in a variety of pendants, charms, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Their jewelry is Dichroic Glass Jewelry which is when thin layers of metal is encased in the glass. This gives the jewelry a dichroic optical property. This makes the jewelry even more beautiful and unique.

Along with their beautiful Glass Jewelry, Dreams Of Glass makes beautiful and unique glass art. Their art, along with their jewelry is made with Borosilicate Glass, or more commonly known as Pyrex. This glass is very hard, durable, and scratch resistant so you know your jewelry or art is durable and you don't have to constantly worry about it breaking. All of their pieces are handmade by skilled craftsmen.

Dreams Of Glass makes it easy to show your own fashion statement with one of their beautiful glass jewelry and to show your own personal style in your home with one of their beautiful glass art works.
