Coghlans' 7 Function Binoculars For Kids

If you are looking for a gift for a boy then I have just the thing for you, Coghlan's 7 Function Binoculars For Kids. We recently received a pair to try out and I have to tell you I was very impressed with them. The binoculars have 7 separate functions, binoculars, monocular, magnifying glass, linen counter, compass, stereoscope and signal mirror for you child to explore and have fun with.

My son was so excited when we received the pair that he couldn't hold still for me to take a picture as you can see here. He kept looking at his father asking him if he could go outside to try them out. My son had a great time exploring with them. His father owns binoculars and Aidan always wanted a set of his own. He loved looking at the birds flying in the sky and used the magnifying glass to check out bugs. He also loved having his father show him how to use the compass and made a game out of which direction to go. My son loves the Coghlan's 7 Function Binoculars For Kids so much that he took them to school for show and tell. All the other kids thought they were really neat and wanted to try it out as well.

My over thoughts on the Coghlan's 7 Function Binoculars For Kids is that they are a great educational toy for children and at a price of less then $10 they are an amazing price. You can go to Coghlan's website, www.coghlans.com for a list of retailers near you where you can buy them.

Natural Medicine Talk Forum Helps To Answer Your Questions About Illnesses

Now that Fall is here and the cold weather is upon us it means only one thing, it's cold and flu season. As adults we gripe and moan about being sick with colds and having a flu, but we but when it comes to our children and when they have a cold or the flu it's a bigger deal. We often worry about them and the complications that can occur when being sick.

I found this great forum on the Natural Medicine Talk website that has all kinds of useful and helpful information about a wide variety of illnesses including a Colds, Flu & Fever Forum. It talks about all kinds of different questions regarding colds, flu's and fevers in both adults and children. I particularly like the thread they have there on How to Treat High Fevers in Toddlers. As a mother I know how scary it can be to have a small child with a high fever and this is great way to discuss with other parents on how they treated their child and what worked for them. Talking to other parents is a great way to find out about your child's illness and this forum is a great way to do just that.

Decorating Your Planters For Fall

Just because Fall is here doesn't mean you still can use your outdoor planters. Although most of the flowers where I live have died due to the cold weather of the Fall you can take the Summer flowers out and replace them with Fall flowers like Mums. Because I love to decorate for each season and occasion I like to not only put Mums in my planters, but I also like to decorate them for Fall as well. What I do is place the Mums in the planter, place some small pumpkins and gourds in around the Mums and even stick a small scarecrow in the planter with them. It make a beautiful Fall decoration and I still get to enjoy flowers during the Fall season.

Another thing you can do in the Fall with your flowers you have in your outdoor planters is to save them by re-potting them into an indoor planter. I like to do this with my geraniums and keep them from year to year. This way not only do I get to enjoy them all year long, but it saves money from having to buy new ones every year.

Knitting

Some may think it's a little early to start thinking about hats and mittens, but here in Canada it's get very cold very fast. I've been working of mittens for my children and my nieces and nephews for the past couple of weeks. Children outgrow clothes, including mittens, very fast and every year they need another half a dozen pairs or more so with 6 kids I have to make mittens for I have my work cut out for me.

Knitting actually isn't very hard. There are lots of great videos and tutorials online that can help you learn. There are lots of great patterns available online for free. If you don't know how to knit then it's a great hobby to take up especially over those cold long winter months.

It's been a long hectic week this past week and while I wish I were packing up one of my favorite promotional tote bags and heading to the spa for a couple of days it isn't going to happen. Instead I will be taking tomorrow off from computer work and catching up on all the stuff that I have neglected over the past week. Tomorrow is going to be a day filled with dusting and washing windows. I know, the glamorous life of a mother!

Apple Betty Recipe

It's apple season time and that means it's time to start baking with apples. Here is a great and easy recipe for Apple Betty.

Ingredients -

4 cups of peeled and sliced apples
1 cup of white sugar
2 tsp of cinnamon
1 1/2 cups of quick cooking oatmeal
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
1 1/2 cups of butter or margarine

Directions -

Mix apples, sugar and cinnamon together in a large bowl and then place in a large greased casserole dish. Combine oats, flour, brown sugar and butter/margarine and then crumble mixture over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30-45 minutes or until golden brown.

I enjoy my Apple Betty warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, but since it's so good I have to limit myself to one dish unless I want to worry about stomach weight loss because weight just seems to head right to my tummy.

"Come guys get off of me! What have you been eating, hgh pills? You're squishing me!"

The poor gray kitten on the bottom seems to be getting squished by the other two kittens sleeping on top of him. The brown and black kitten is my sons kitten called Houdini and the black and white kitten is my friends kitten who is supposed to be picking it up soon to take home with her. The poor little gray one who is getting squished it still looking for a home, but until we find her a good one she's going to stay with us.

Saving Money With Coupons

I love to save money, but who doesn't! As a mother it's usually our job to handle the shopping and budgeting of our family income. A great way to help stretch those dollars a little bit further is by using coupons. Not only do I clip coupons, but I order them online from various different coupon websites and even from product line websites. Today while I was out doing my grocery shopping I spotted Head & Shoulders shampoo on sale. Not only was it a double pack on sale, but I also had a coupon for it so all I paid for two bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo was 99 cents! I know, talk about an amazing price! After using all my coupons today I figured out I saved over $20.

You can find coupons for just about anything from items at the grocery store, to electronics, to beauty products like the best wrinkle creams. The things you can find coupons for are almost endless and with the Christmas shopping season quickly approaching saving money is even more important to be able to make those special holiday purchases.

I was actually going to use this picture for the Camera Critters meme on Saturday because there were 6 huge robins in the tree eating the berries, but alas by the time I grabbed my camera and headed out the door the robins flew away. My guess is they were trying to fatten up before they flew South for the winter. Wouldn't that be nice, not flying South for the winter, but that would be good too. I'm talking about actually eating as much as you wanted to without having to worry about weight loss supplements. Oh a girl can dream can't she. Even though this was supposed to be a Camera Critter meme picture that got ruined by the birds flying away I think it's still a pretty sky picture.

The Birds And The Bees

As a mother with a teen aged daughter I've gone through all the stages mothers with daughters can. I've gone through the "boys are yucky" stage, "boys are kinda okay, but just as friends stage, to the "first crush" stage. It's hard to believe that I've gone through buying diapers to acne treatment so quickly, but it has been 16 years.

A friend of mine recently asked me for some advice on how to have the dreaded "The Birds & The Bees Talk" with her daughter. My advice to her was simple. Don't overwhelm her, just give her the basics and let her ask questions. A lot of times it's an embarrassing conversation for both mother and daughter and by keeping it simple and letting your daughter lead the conversation by asking questions it will make it a lot more relaxed and easier to talk about.

Jewelry Makes The Perfect Gift For Women

Christmas is only a few months away and many of us have either already started Christmas shopping or are about to start Christmas shopping. I have already started my Christmas shopping. Some people are easier to buy for then others, such as children and men. I find that it's harder to buy for women, but I do know one of the things woman love to get, not only for Christmas, but for any time is jewelry.

One of my sisters often gives me jewelry for Christmas and this year I wanted to do the same for her. I found this great website called www.GalaxyGold.com that has an amazing selection of jewelry including gemstone jewelry, birthstones jewelry, engagement rings, 14k jewelry, and diamond jewelry. Not only do they have an amazing selection of jewelry, their prices are amazing as well. I found this beautiful silver necklace with a natural heart aquamarine, which is my sisters birthstone, on there on sale for only $44.84. It was regular priced almost $200 so that is a savings of over $150. Not only am I sure my sister would love this necklace, but I am getting it at an amazing price.

If you are looking for that special gift for someone this holiday season, or simply as a gift, then you should check out their website. I'm sure you will be able to find something beautiful and at a great price too!

Taking Time For Mom

Being a stay-at-home mother means that most often I wear jeans and a t-shirt. Not only are they comfortable, but very practical when chasing after kids all day, cooking, and cleaning. But just because you're a mom doesn't mean that from time to time you can't dress up. By wearing pretty women's dresses once in a while you make yourself feel pretty and basically better about yourself. As mothers we spend so much time taking care of others that we often tend to take care of ourselves last. Take some time to spend on you. Go out and get your hair done, put on a pretty outfit even if you're not going somewhere special, or simply by taking 20 minutes and soaking in a bubble bath will make you happy and we all know if mom isn't happy then no one is.

Making Your Childs Halloween Costumes

It's almost the middle of September and it's time to start thinking about Halloween and which costume you child wants to wear. For the past 10 years I've made my children's costumes myself instead of going out and buying one. I've made everything from a mad scientist, Thomas the Tank Engine, Sponge Bob, Patrick Starr, a pirate, a scarecrow, a turtle, and the list goes on. Making your child's costume isn't as difficult as it sounds. There are lots of great websites that can give you helpful tips, ideas, and even walk you through the process. This year my 5 year old wants to be Link from The Legend Of Zelda video game and his 6 year old girl cousin wants to be Princess Zelda from the game so even if I wanted to buy the costume I couldn't because you can't get it anywhere so I definitely have to make their costumes this year.

I will tell you more about making your child's Halloween costume and give you some great websites that can help you along in the weeks to come.

Camera Critters #127

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty.

When my kids come home from school I have two chairs by the front door where they put their bookbags. My teen aged daughter takes a LOT of stuff to school with her. Her purse and bookbag are filled to the brim. I honestly think it would be easier for her just to simply take her whole bedroom with her. She has all her books and school supplies in them, but she also has makeup, her DSi, her MP4 player, and just about everything but football gifts. There are two things she isn't allowed to take to school no matter how much they want to go to school with her, the cats! The cats seem to like sleeping on her purse and in her bookbag. Maybe they think she won't notice them one day and take them to school with her?

Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Regimen

I've been a big fan of Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health line of dental hygiene products since I first tried them over a year ago. It's the only brand I use for my family. Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health has just released a new line of products called Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Regimen. This is composed of two new products, Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Toothpaste and Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection Floss. These two products are designed to help reverse gingivitis in as little as 2 weeks while still taking care of your other dental health needs like preventing cavities and plaque buildup.

Here are some interesting facts I found out about gingivitis from the Crest Pro Health website -

Gingivitis is a very common and mild form of gum disease that causes gums to become red, swollen and tender and bleed easily during brushing or flossing. If left untreated, gingivitis can lead to a more serious form of gum disease known as periodontitis, an infection in the ligaments and bones that support the teeth and a major cause of tooth loss in adults.1

Is gingivitis common?

Yes. In fact, gingivitis affects more than 50 percent of the U.S. adult population.

What are the signs and symptoms of gingivitis?

The early symptoms of gingivitis include gums that are swollen, soft, or red and bleed easily. Many don’t recognize these as symptoms of gingivitis, in fact, thirty-three percent of Americans believe that having “a little bleeding during brushing and flossing” is normal.

What are the causes of gingivitis?

Perhaps surprisingly, gingivitis can redevelop in between dental cleanings. Poor oral hygiene clearly contributes to the development of gingivitis and its severity. Even with good oral hygiene, gingivitis can occur, especially in harder–to-reach areas along the gum line or between teeth.

In order to combat gingivitis you can use these two great new products from Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Regimen.

Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Toothpaste - Help reverse gingivitis in 4 weeks with Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Toothpaste, while protecting your entire mouth. Its clinically proven active ingredient protects against gingivitis, sensitivity, cavities, and plaque.

Crest Pro-Health toothpastes protect all these areas dentists check most:

* Fights teeth cavities
* Fights tartar buildup
* Whitens teeth
* Freshens breath
* Fights teeth sensitivity
* Fights plaque
* Fights gingivitis

Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection Floss -Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection Floss is our most advanced floss ever. It helps reverse gingivitis in 2 weeks as part of a comprehensive dental health routine.

* Slides up to 50% more easily in tight spaces versus the leading floss.
* Effectively removes plaque and food particles in between teeth to help prevent cavities
* Invigorates gums and provides a minty cool feeling every time you floss
* Light coating of natural wax for improved grip
* Gently stimulates gums
* Removes plaque to help reverse gingivitis in 2 weeks

Another way to help combat gingivitis is by using the proper toothbrush. The Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush.

By combining CrissCross® and Power Tip® bristles with soft gum stimulators and a textured tongue cleaner, the Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush provides seven oral care benefits to help you achieve a cleaner, healthier mouth.

We all know dental health is important and thanks to the wonderful people at Crest and Oral-B they are making taking care of our dental health a lot easier. If you would like more information about gingivitis and the Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Regimen or any of the other wonderful line of Pro-Health products you can go to www.crestprohealth.com.

Dryel, Helping You With Your Laundry

If there is one thing us mothers know about, it's doing laundry. It always seem that there is a never ending supply of dirty clothes that need washed. Dryel, the company that brought you the amazing at-home dry cleaning product, can help you out with your laundry with some great Dryel products.

Dryel 3-IN-1 Touch-Up Spray™ -
Dryel 3-IN-1 Touch Up Spray™ is specially formulated to safely care for your everyday and dry clean clothes. Use to extend the time between cleanings!

  • Spray a light mist evenly on fabric.
  • Use more spray in heavily wrinkled, smelly or clingy areas.
  • Use hands to press and smooth away wrinkles.
  • Air dry or dry in the dryer.

I have a teen aged daughter and if you like me have one then you know how often they change their clothes. My daughter thinks that just because she wore something for two hours, even though it isn't stained, it needs to be washed. This sometimes happens three or four times a day and if I washed clothes as often as she changed them them my washer and dryer would be running 24 hours a day! With Dryel 3-IN-1 Touch Up Spray™ all I have to do is spray the clothes, wipe my hand down them to get any wrinkles out, and set them to dry. It's so much quicker and easier, not to mention saves on my electricity bill, by using Dryel 3-IN-1 Touch Up Spray™ on these clothes instead of washing four of her outfits a day.

Dryel On the Go™ Stain Pen -
Dryel On The Go™ helps remove fresh stains, and it’s even safe on dry clean only clothes, delicates and hand-washables such as wools, silks, rayons, linens, cottons and other special care fabrics.

I've used other stain remover pens before, but I have to say the Dryel On The Go™ stain pen is my absolute favorite. I was wearing a brand new white top while I was out to McDonald's the other day. I like my french fries with lots of ketchup and you can probably see where I'm heading with this. Yes, I got a big spot of ketchup on my new white top. Thankfully I had the Dryel On The Go™ stain pen in my purse so all I had to do was use napkins to remove the excess ketchup and rub the Dryel On The Go™ stain pen into the stain. It removed all the ketchup stain from my new white shirt! I was so impressed with it that I even tried it on old set in stains on my sons clothes and it even got the stains out of them. The Dryel On The Go™ stain pen really works wonders at removing stains.

The Dryel® Starter Kit -
The kit contains 2 ultra-concentrated cleaning cloths that will care for 2 dryer loads (up to four garments in each load for a total of 8 garments). Dryel® is also available in economical six-load refill packs in Clean Breeze Scent to care for up to 24 garments.

Each kit includes:
  • Instant Stain Remover Pen
  • 2X ULTRA Concentrated Refill Cloths
  • Re-usable Fabric Protection Bag
  • An instructional pamphlet including coupons
Have you seen the price of dry cleaning lately? It's so high that I actually check clothes before I buy them to make sure I don't have to dry clean them. I do have clothes that I have to dry clean and I try not to wear them often because of the price of dry cleaning. With the Dryel® in-dryer cleaning I don't have to worry about it anymore. It's really easy to use and the clothes come out like they were dry cleaned without the dry cleaning cost. You can purchase the Dryel® starter kit for about $6.99 and clean 8 garments for less than the price of one dry cleaned one. This also works great on the new style dark denim jeans. Washing dark denim in your washer will eventually fade them and if you are going to spend a lot of money on your clothes then why ruin them? By using Dryel® in-dryer cleaning you keep you dark denim dark.

For more information about Dryel® and their products go to dryel.com. There is also a link on the website for some great coupons for Dryel® and other oneCARE products.

Growing Up

Today my son started kindergarten. I still find it hard to believe that he is old enough to go to school. I keep thinking of him as my baby boy, but he's actually a big boy now. I still remember filling out the baby shower thank you cards for the shower I had after he was born and thinking about how little he was. I can't believe that in just five short years he has grown up to be such a big boy who is old enough for school. I'm going to miss my baby boy, but I'm excited to experience all the wonderful things with my big boy now. Children grow up so fast so enjoy every minute you have with your children.

Camera Critters #126

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty.

So I'm in the kitchen making lunch and all I hear is kids screaming like little girls. Okay so one of the kids was a little girl, but the other two was a little boy and a teen aged girl. I run in expecting to see someone missing a limb because the scream was so loud and all I found was this guy flying around the TV room and kids screaming because of it. When it finally landed I took a picture of course and then gently picked it up in a bag and released it outside. Sure the dragonfly was huge, but it was just a dragon fly not a real dragon and I'm still not sure why they were freaked out so much. Oh well, kids eh!

Saving Money And Beating The Heat

Although summer is almost over it's still pretty hot out and something I did all summer long to beat the heat and save a little money was to make my own frozen treats. Popsicle molds are a great way to do this. You can purchase them at the dollar store or department stores and they come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. What I like the best about making your own popsicles is you can fill them with real fruit juice instead of a sugary mixture like popsicles you buy at the store. This way your children get to cool off and get their servings of fruit.
