JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness Review And Giveaway

My son loves the JumpStart video games. He has the JumpStart Pet Rescue and the JumpStart Escape From Adventure Island video games. These are both wonderful education games produced the JumpStart. JumpStart has been educating children and helping them develop their minds since 1991 and now they are helping children develop their bodies and get physically fit. JumpStart has recently released a new type of video game called Get Moving Family Fitness.

JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness starts off similar to the other JumpStart games where you create your own character. This is one of my sons favorite things to do. He's created a character for himself, me, his father, and his cousin. His sister created her own character even though he wanted to create it himself. From there you get to pick a variety of sports games you can play including boxing, balancing, baseball, football, racing, and volleyball. Within these sport games options are different sections. For example in the racing section there is a flying race, a speed skating race, a bicycle race and a running track race. There is over 15 different sports games your child can play on the JumpStart Get Moving Family Fitness.

As you can tell from this picture my son loves to do the racing game. The track race is his favorite while my daughter likes to do the flying race. It really doesn't matter to me which on is their favorite, I'm just happy that they enjoy playing it because they are getting exercise.

Lifejackets For Your Child

With summer here your children are going to be spending a lot of time in the water. The most important thing you can do for your child while they are in the water is to make sure they have a lifejacket on whether they are in a pool or any type of water.

Here is some great information from www.SafeKidsCanada.ca about life jackets and personal floatation devices for your children.

Pick the right lifejacket for your child

Courtesy: Canadian Red Cross

  • Make sure the lifejacket is the right size for your child's weight. Lifejackets for children have weight limits. Adult sizes are based on chest measurement and body weight.
  • Make sure the lifejacket is comfortable and light, so your child will wear it. The fit should be snug. It should not ride up over your child's ears.
  • Check the label to make sure it has been approved by at least one of the following:
    • Transport Canada
    • Canadian Coast Guard
    • Fisheries and Oceans Canada
  • For young children, the lifejacket should also have these special features:
    • A large collar (for head support)
    • A strap that buckles between the legs - so the lifejacket will not slip over your child's head
    • A whistle
    • A waist strap that you can adjust - so you can make the lifejacket fit snugly
    • Ties and/or a sturdy plastic zipper
    • Bright colour and reflective tape to help you see your child in the water
  • At least once a year, check to see if the lifejacket still fits your child and has no rips or damage

You can read more about the rules, regulations, and general information about lifejackets and PFD's for your child by clicking here.

Make sure your kids have a happy and safe summer this year and wear a lifejacket in and near water.

Flowers And Planters

My father was an avid gardener and he taught me all about flowers and plants. This was something special we did together and I keep that tradition alive by teaching my children about plants and flowers.

I have lots of flower beds and Outdoor Planters. They make the yard look so pretty. In my flower beds I have my favorite perennials like lilies, Queen Of The Prairie, and peonies. My children each have their own flower bed and Garden Planter. My daughter has herbs in her flower bed and petunias in her planter, while my son has marigolds in his flower bed and pansies in his planter. They planted, weed, and water them themselves. Of course it takes a little supervision for the 5 year old, but it's a wonderful quality time between me and my children teaching them about plants and flowers.

This summer teach your children about gardening. If you don't have a large yard you can use Window Box Planters. It's a great way to spend time over the summer with your children, and they will learn something.

Camera Critters #116

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty who just happens to be celebrating her birthday today. Happy Birthday Misty!

Yes, this is a robin, even though it has a white head. A friend of Misty's, the birthday girl, told her that it is part albino. Me and Misty discussed it and although we agree with him, we kinda thought it was a cross between an eagle and a robin. Okay, maybe not, but it was kinda funny wasn't it.

Don't forget to stop over at Misty's and wish her a Happy Birthday!

Moving Boxes And Supplies To Help You Have A Stress Free Move

It seems like this time of year people tend to move. Maybe it's because school is over for the year and moving now means you don't have to take your children out of their current school and change them to a different one in the middle of the school year. Whatever the reason you are moving, or whatever the timing, there are lots of things you need to know about how to have a successful and stress free move, not only for you, but also for your children.

When it comes to moving there is a lot of stuff you can do yourself that can help you save a lot of money. Packing is the main thing you can do yourself, and with your children, that can help you save money. There is a great website called www.saveologymoving.com that has everything you need to help you pack up your stuff. They have a great selection of Moving Boxes and Supplies. They have various sized kits that contain everything you need, various size boxes, bubble wrap, newsprint, tape, marker, and box cutter.

Getting your children to help with the packing is a great way to include them in the move and help to get them excited about moving. The last thing you need or want is having your child upset about moving when you have all the stress related to moving already. You can get them to help pack their stuff and even help pack the rest of the house with you. Kids love bubble wrap so helping to wrap stuff in bubble wrap would really appeal to them. They can also help with the taping up boxes and writing labels on them.

Moving doesn't have to be stressful or expensive. You can save money buy doing things like doing the packing yourself with packing kits, and by including your children in the process, they can become excited about the move.

The kids love jumping on the trampoline, and I must admit it's great exercise for them. They get out in the fresh air and are not stuck in front of the television. Me on the other hand, I like lying on the trampoline and watching the sky, and maybe even snap a picture or two like this one.

Web Hosting - A Common Question From Bloggers

I get a lot of questions emailed to me from new bloggers just starting out. I thought I would write a post answering one of their most frequently asked question, which is about web hosting.

When most bloggers start out blogging they use a free web hosting site such as Blogger.com. This is the site I started out with. It's a good site, but using a free web hosting site does have it's one main drawback, and that is advertising. Advertisers prefer a private domain blog to one which is on a free hosting site. This not only includes advertisers who wish to buy an ad on your blog, but also companies who wish to have their product reviewed. Basically, a private domain blog looks much more professional than one on a free web hosting site.

There are lots of web hosting sites out there, but the one I use and prefer is GoDaddy, but it all depends upon what you want. A great way to find the perfect web hosting site for you is to check out some web hosting customer reviews. See what they say and then decide for yourself which one is right for you.

Decorating For Baby And Home

Having a baby is the most exciting and busy times in a woman's life. She has so many things to do to get ready for the baby's arrival. When I was expecting my children I was shocked to find just how quickly the nine months go by.

Getting your baby's room ready is exciting and fun, but it is also a lot of work though. In my opinion decorating your baby's room is even more difficult then decorating your home. There is a wonderful online store called www.laylagrayce.com that can help you with both decorating your baby's room and your home. Layla Grayce have just about everything you need for your baby's room including the wonderful Pom Pom Baby brand line. They have a wide variety of Pom Pom bedding that would fit your baby's room decor. They also have Pom Pom linens for you home as well including napkins, placemats, and seat covers.

Whether you are having a boy or a girl, you'll be able to find the perfect items to make your baby's room just right. Even if you don't know the sex of your baby, you'll be able to find items which will be great for either a boy or a girl. Then, when the baby's room is perfect, you can concentrate on the other things you need to do to get ready for a new addition to the family.

Quick And Easy Sorbet

Let's face it, summers are hot and ice cream is a great way to beat the heat. A great option instead of eating ice cream is sorbet. Not only is sorbet delicious, it is very healthy for you and a lot less calories then ice cream. If you haven't read those apidexin reviews, don't worry about it, just make yourself a sorbet instead of ice cream. Trust me, you'll feel a lot less guilty about all those calories.

Here is a quick easy sorbet recipe for you and your kids to enjoy.

1/2 cup orange juice
2 1/2 cups frozen unsweetened strawberries

Blend well in a blender, if not sweet enough feel free to add a little sugar. Pour into a container and freeze for a few hours.

Rain Chains

Now that it's summer one thing I love to do is work outside on my yard and house. I recently saw something that I really want to have for the outside of my house. It's called rain chains.

I wasn't quite sure what a rain chain was for at first, but I knew I wanted them. Rain chains are actually something you can use and are not just for decorations, even though they look amazing. Basically what they do is replace your downspout on your water gutter. Downspouts aren't very pretty, but a necessity. So instead of having a big white pipe running down the side of your house to run off the water from your rain gutter you use these chains rain run down instead. The best thing about them is that you can get different styles of cups depending upon your style. I love the flower ones, but hubby likes the fish ones.

These are definitely something that will spruce up the look of your house and are very useful as well.

This post is brought to you by your friends at www.rainchainlink.com.

Camera Critters #114

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty.

This is my adorable niece J.T. catching her first fish out of our pond. She was so excited that I think she wouldn't have traded all the gold bullion in the world for that fish. She even wanted to keep it as a pet, but we talked her into letting it go back into the pond and letting it be her pet in there.

Almost All Grownup

School is almost over for the year. My teen aged daughter has exams next week and then she's done for the school year. It's had to believe that she's going into grade 11. It seems like only yesterday that she was in kindergarten. It won't be long before she has to start worrying about sat prep and a prom dress. I can't believe in a couple of years she's going to be graduating. She still not sure what she wants to do after graduation, but I'm sure what ever secondary school subject she chooses she'll do great. She's an amazing kid, or should I say young lady. It's still really hard to believe my baby girl is almost all grownup.

Flossing

While at the drugstore looking for some wrinkle treatment creme, yeah I'm getting older, and I found Crayola Kids Flossers. It's a kids floss, but it comes in a little handle that makes flossing easier. Flossing my 5 year old's teeth is a battle. Trying to get my fingers in his mouth with the floss is very difficult so when I saw these I decided to try them and they work great! You just use the little handle and they fit so much easier in the mouth then trying to use your fingers with floss. If you haven't tried them you should really check them out because flossing my son's teeth has never been easier.

A Moms Summer Wish

Summertime, it means no school for kids, but it also means that they are going to get bored very easily and want things to do and places to go. To moms summertime means trying to find ways to keep your kids busy and happy.

I personally love summertime. I love taking my kids down to the beach, going to the park, going on picnics, going to the zoo, and lots of other wonderful summertime adventures. Unfortunately as a mom we all know that being a mom means you don't have a lot of time to do all these wonderful things. Floors need vacuumed, windows need washed, the bathroom needs cleaned and a million other household chores that keep us so busy that it seems like we never have enough time to spend with our kids.

If I had one wish it would be able to find an affordable cleaning company that could come in and do all this stuff for me so that I could spend that quality time with my children. Wouldn't be wonderful to be sitting at a park having a picnic with your children while someone else is cleaning your toilet for you? Talk about heaven! Just think of all the wonderful adventures you can go on with your children while someone else cleans your house. My children have been asking to go to the lake fishing for about two weeks now and that would be the first thing I would do. What would you do if you had the extra time you could spend with your children?

Baby GoGo Review

Six years ago when I found out I was pregnant for my son my daughter all of a sudden decided she wanted a baby doll. My daughter was sort of a tomboy and wasn't into playing with dolls. Of course as a mom to a girl I wanted her to play with dolls and when she said she wanted a baby doll I jumped at the chance. Not only was I happy she wanted to play with dolls, but I thought it was an excellent way to teach her about babies and how to take care of them. Now there is a new doll that can help you do just that, Baby GoGo.

About Baby GoGo -
Baby Doll Reinvented for the 21st Century Gender-neutral, medium skin tone, contemporary Baby GoGoTM doll appeals to every child. Gone are the tired pastel pink and blue outfits with antiquated ruffles and bows. Baby GoGoTM, a gender-neutral baby doll for today’s children, is now available at local specialty toy stores and online at www.babygogodoll.com .

“We believe this is the most significant change in baby dolls in at least 30 years,” says Little Sib company founder Margaret Winchester. “I strongly believe that children will more readily attach to a doll that reminds them of their own special world.

Baby GoGoTM features a medium skin tone and is clothed in exciting contemporary colors so that it appeals to all boys and girls and encourages them to learn to nurture. The Baby GoGoTM Goes Home Doll Set, priced at $39.99, comes with the 13-inch doll dressed in soft, cozy pajamas and a hat and accompanied by a beautifully detailed “blankie,” and a full-color “Baby GoGoTM Goes Home” storybook, which follows the baby’s homecoming after birth and getting to know siblings and family. Baby GoGoTM is appropriate for children ages three and older. Also available is a line of accessories, starting with a diaper bag, a child-sized bag made of 100 percent cotton canvas that includes a cotton diaper and has plenty of room for children to add their own essentials. It is priced at $24.99. The Moses Bed, priced at $29.99 and available this summer, is also made of 100 percent cotton material, and is the perfect place for children to put Baby GoGoTM down for a nap. Straps are just the right length to allow children to easily carry the bed around the house and to play dates.

About Little Sib, LLC -
Little Sib provides children with toys that nurture and inspire them to be healthy, loving men and women through imaginative play. The company’s first product , Baby GoGoTM, reinvents the classic baby doll. It’s fun, colorful, safe, environmentally friendly and the answer to the outdated, traditional baby doll that is limited in its versatility for children of all races and genders. Visit the web site at www.babygogodoll.com .

What we think of Baby GoGo -
J.T. just loves the new Baby GoGo doll. She takes it with her everywhere and loves the fact that it has it's own blankie and diaper bag. She even likes to sit in the rocking chair and rock the doll as in this picture here demonstrates. I like the fact that it has a soft body. Hard toys always scare me because there is a greater chance of someone getting hurt. I also love the fact that it comes with a story book about Baby GoGo. This story is great for kids who are getting a new baby in the family. J.T. loves her Baby GoGo so much she named it GoGo and can't wait until the bed becomes available this summer to go along with the doll. Another great thing about Baby GoGo is that it comes in a gender neuteral color. My son Aidan hates to play with anything pink as it's a "girl" color according to him. But since the Baby GoGo we have is white with orange stripes he likes to play baby with it along with J.T. They take turns feeding it and changing it's diaper that came along with the diaper bag.

If you or someone you know is expecting a baby I think Baby GoGo would make a great gift for the older sibling or even just as a gift to any child. You can find out more information about Baby GoGo and where to buy it by going to www.babygogodoll.com.

The product in this review was given to me free of charge for testing and review. My review and opinions are not influenced by this or any source, they are my honest opinion of the product. Peanutbutter Cookies

My children's favorite cookie is chocolate chip, but their second favorite cookie is peanut butter. Here is my favorite recipe for peanut butter cookies.

Peanut Butter Cookies

1 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix well these ingredients together. Add...

3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt.

Blend dry and wet ingredients together and chill in fridge for about 15 minutes. Roll into ball and flatten. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes on a greased baking sheet. For a variation you can add chocolate chips/chunks.

I store them in a tupperware type container to keep them soft and fresh. Enjoy!

Ice Cappuccino Recipe

Now that summer is here again it's time to break out my favorite ice cappuccino recipe. I love Tim Horton's Ice Caps, but it's not always possible to make a Tim's run so I have a recipe for my version of their Ice Caps.

1 cup of whole milk
1 heaping teaspoon of instant coffee
1 teaspoon of vanilla
6 ice cubes
4 teaspoons of sugar
Mix all in blender until ice is crushed. Pour in glass and drink with a straw.

It actually tastes best with half and half instead of whole milk, but you would be needing some hydroxycut if you drank too many of them using the half and half because it's very fattening.

Now that the summer weather is here we are all trying desperately to fit into our summer clothes. The cold long Winter can certainly wreck havoc to our waist line. Along with dieting and using a best fat burner, exercise is a great way to not only lose weight, but also get healthy.

Being moms it seems like we never have enough time, and the extra time we do have we like to spend with our kids. A great way to get some exercise while still spending time with your children is by taking them for walks. You can also go for hikes, go swimming, and even jump on the trampoline with them. It doesn't really matter what exercise you are doing, just as long as it's exercise and you're spending time with your children. Go out have fun with your kids, and get some exercise while you're at it.
