I want to wish all my American friends and readers a Happy Memorial Day! Memorial Day is a time for honoring the great American soldiers who gave their lives for their country. It is also a time for families to spend together. Don't worry about what those scales say, go out and have an ice cream with your family or have a family BBQ while you are remembering those wonderful soldiers who gave their lives for their country.

I have a lot of work to do this week, including installing a new document scanning software, along with getting posts ready, responding to emails, and getting some great new contests ready that I'm going to hold in the coming weeks for my wonderful readers. Princess and Yoko seem to have the right idea. It was so sunny out the other day they decided to sit in the shade. The sun is great, but it's bad for your skin. It causes skin cancer and wrinkles. Let's face it, I'm not getting any younger so wrinkles are starting to become a concern for me. Before you know it I'll have to get some prototype 37c for those crow feet.

It was such a beautiful day outside the other day we decided to go for ice cream as you can tell by my son's face. I have a love/hate relationship with ice cream. Now don't get me wrong, I love ice cream. I just hate what it does to my bottom....it makes it grow bigger. It's supposed to be a hot dry summer this year which means that I'll have to avoid ice cream or my bottom will be huge by the end of summer. Nah....I think I'll just find the best diet supplement and still occasionally enjoy an ice cream. Yeah, I have no will power.

It seems like it was only yesterday that my son started preschool. In actuality it has been a whole school year and now preschool is all over with. He has grown so much this past school year, both emotionally and physically. He is much more mature than when he started preschool and does a lot more for himself. He's no longer a "baby", but a "big boy" as he likes to put it.

On the first day of preschool they weighed and measured the height of all the kids. They did the same on the last day of preschool. My son only gained a few pounds, but he grew 6 whole inches! No I didn't give him human growth hormone, but I did hear that it's good for wrinkles so it is something that I might check out. The only thing I gave him was lots of healthy food and lots and lots of love.

As you can see by these two pictures. The first taken on the first day of preschool and the second one taken on the last day of preschool he sure has grown a lot and his looks have changed also. He now longer has that baby look about him. He definitely looks like a big boy now!

I finally found a pair of headphones that I can actually wear that don't bother me, the Ear Pollution CS40's from Ifrogz. I hate wearing the ear buds headphones. They just feel weird in my ears and most other band head phones are just plain uncomfortable.

The CS40's are so soft and comfortable that you can almost forget that they are there. I love that fact that the soft ear cushions covers your whole ear. They also have this great adjustable band that is covered in plastic instead of having the metal band, like a lot of other headphones, that dig into your head. They even fold up for storage or travel. And to top it off the sound quality from them is excellent!

I also found out this great perk about the Ear Pollution CS40's . If any of you have a teenager like I do know that when they are listening to their MP3 players everyone is listening to it. Now, no offense to Lady Gaga, but if I want to listen to Bad Romance then I'll listen to it myself. I don't want to hear the music my teen aged daughter is listening to. With the CS40's I noticed that I no longer hear her music she is listening to when she uses them. There is no more hollering "Turn your MP3 player down!". She gets to listen to her music and I get to enjoy the sweet quietness.

Posting will be erratic and at a minimum this week as it is a very busy week this week. Tomorrow is my son's last day of preschool with his closing on Thursday and his introduction to kindergarten day on Friday. So basically every day this week I will be away doing stuff.

What amazes me is that my son is old enough to start kindergarten in the Fall. It seems like just yesterday he was a baby and now he's five! I still occasionally bring out his old baby clothes and get amazed by just how much he has grown.

Children grow up so fast so enjoy then while they are little because they won't be little for long.

As a mom I rely on caffeine, in the form of coffee, every day. I simply can not start my day without a cup of coffee. The thing about coffee though is that it is full of caffeine. Caffeine can be good sometimes, but it isn't good in too high a quantity or for children. There are some people, like my daughter, who have to limit the amount of caffeine they have due to medicine they take.

We all know that milk is good for us. It's full of calcium and it helps build strong bones. It's especially good for our growing children.

I've come across an issue I thought I was way past though....the smell of sour milk. When babies spit up the smell of sour milk is a common issue. My five year old spilled chocolate milk in our car and unfortunately it wasn't cleaned up quick enough. It was also a hot day so guess what, my car smells like sour milk.

I had to go into my old bag of tricks to get rid of the smell. First I washed the area with hot soapy water. After it dried I sprayed vinegar on the area and let that dried. I then took a damp sponge to the area to get rid of the strong vinegar smell and viola, the sour milk smell was gone and only a touch of vinegar smell remained.

My friend Anna mentioned before that she thought it was neat that I have to use a ferry boat to go anywhere so I thought I would show her a picture of what one looked like while passing on the other on in the middle of the river.

These are a couple of fish in our pond. You can see two sunfish and a trout at the far corner of the picture. No, these aren't for eating! Take some phentermine and stop looking at my fish that way, "Fish are friends, not food!" , and these are our pets. Okay well I don't know if you could call them pets because they live outside, but they aren't for eating. They are just for watching. The kids love to see how many fish they can see in the pond. There are quite a few, but they are good at hiding in the plants so you can only really see them when they come close to the shore.

The kids were blowing bubbles and I tried to get a picture of them, but man those bubbles are quick! I only got a couple of them in each shot.

Now that it's May it's time to start getting the flower beds ready. Ever since my 16 year old daughter was little she had her own flower garden. She was in charge of weeding it, planting the flowers in it, and watering it. Now my 5 year old son wanted his own flower garden like his big sister. I let him have on the the annual flower beds to be in charge of. He was very excited about having his own flower garden and dug right in to weed it. That was until he discovered this...





Once he found out there were worms in the flower bed, he totally forgot about weeding and was much more interested in digging for worms. He even convinced his older cousin to help him find worms.

It's not that I have anything against worms, but ever since he showed me his "collection" of worms, which he named each and everyone, I've been having nightmares about worms. I'm seriously going to have to get some dark eye circles creme because I keep waking up because of the nightmares. Oh well only 6 more months to go then the ground will be too hard to dig for worms.
