Camera Critters #82

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created by my very own BBFF, Misty.

I hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween!
I'll be taking lots of pictures of the kids trick or treating tonight and I'll post them next week. Last year I took so many pictures that I filled up my memory card. I wonder this year how many I'll take, too many probably. Maybe it's time to look into some online backup.

This isn't the best picture because of the power lines in the shot, but the colors of the sky do match my blog so that counts for something right?

I can't believe that Halloween is just a day away and then as soon as that is over it's time to really start thinking about Christmas. I already made an appointment for my childrens Christmas photos to be taken. As soon as I get those back I can order my holiday photo cards. Christmas is going to be here before you know it.

Halloween Safety Tips

With Halloween only a few days away I thought it would be a great time to review some Halloween safety tips.

1. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
2. Children should wear clothing that can easily be seen at night. Retro-reflective materials are best.
3. Children should trick or treat in one well-known area and not wander into unknown neighborhoods.
4. All candy should be inspected by an adult to make sure that no one has tampered with it. If it looks suspicious, the police should be contacted.
5. Children should avoid stray animals.
6. Children should wear masks that do not interfere with vision. Better yet, they can avoid masks by wearing makeup.
7. Children should watch for moving vehicles when crossing streets.
8. Costumes should be short enough that the child will not trip.
9. Trick or treaters should dress appropriately for the weather and carry a flashlight.
10. For extra safety, organize a Halloween party for children in your neighborhood.

Tips from the Canada Safety Council.

I Want That

Have you happened to notice that there are a lot of toy commercials now. It must be because Christmas is just around the corner. Lately my four year old has been saying "I want that" to every toy commercial he sees now. Heck he's been saying it so much that whenever a commercial comes on he says it no matter if it's for a toy, a cleaning product, or for a NJ Cosmetic dentist. He's just so used to saying "I want that" that now he doesn't even notice what the commercial is for now. It's not until he realizes that it's not a toy commercial that he changes his mind and says "No, I don't want that". Kids eh!

We had a big rainstorm the other day and it flood everywhere. Roads were closed, brooks turned into lakes, and it even washed out my driveway. The flooding has gotten so bad around here lately that it makes a person think about moving to higher ground, heck moving anywhere but here. I wonder how the Minneapolis Job Search is?

Playmobil's The Secret Of Pirate Island Review

My son loves Playmobil and he also loves pirates so needless to say that Playmobil's The Secret Of Pirate Island was a big hit in our house.

The Secret Of Pirate Island is like the popular pirate toy sets of Playmobil except they come to like in an action packed movie. Jack and his older sister Amelia stowaway on a pirate ship and head out on a fun packed pirate fulled adventure to Skull Island.

The Secret Of Pirate Island includes a interactive version that allows the viewer, using their DVD remote, to make decisions and what is going to happen next. Because it's interactive there is 27 exciting story combinations you can create. It also includes a version that simply plays straight through.

The Secret Of Pirate Island is available on video now. It includes an Interactive Version, Captian Gruff's Favorite Movie, and Pirate Sing-Along. It can be purchased online from Amazon and some retail stores.

Although I'm not into Halloween this year I still put up my decorations including the wreath my daughter made me. It had orange and red leaves with a yellow, brown, orange and red Indian corn in the middle of it. I think the reason I'm not into Halloween this year is because I've made 3 costumes so far and I still have another one to make.

A few years ago, okay maybe it was a little more then a few, we went to a petting zoo farm and my daughter fell in love with the donkey they had there. I must admit he certainly is a cutie.

We had this really weird storm the other day where it was pouring out, the sun was out and there was a rainbow all at the same time! I can't help but smile every time I see a rainbow. They almost seem to take all your cares and worries away for a little bit. Whether your worrying about major things like mesothelioma or money issues, rainbows seem to make it better for a little bit don't they.

Thrifty Thursday

With winter quickly approaching there are lots of ways you can save money on your heating bill. Here it is actually getting below freezing at night so in order to save money on our heating bill there are a few things we do.

-Check your windows and doors for drafts.
- Insulate your pipes. There is nothing worse than waking up one morning and finding your pipes have frozen.
- Turn your heat down at night and throw an extra blanket on your bed. Even using an electric blanket at night costs less then having the heat turned up high.
- During the days dress like it is winter. Wear a sweater instead of a t-shirt and you won't have to have the heat turned up so high.
- For older windows put clear plastic over them to keep out the cold air.
- Shut the doors to rooms that aren't in use.

Stop back next week for more thrifty hints on how to save money.

I don't know about you, but I'm just not into Halloween this year. Maybe because it's been so cold out that it seems closer to Christmas then Halloween. Not that I want to rush Christmas, but it is my favorite time of the year. Heck I would have my Christmas decorations up already if my husband let me. Okay so maybe it is a little bit early to decorate for Christmas, but I can still 'think' about it right?

This week's theme/prompt is - HEADS *OR* TAILS, Stop *OR* Go.

The kids have a little song they sing when we come to a traffic light.

"Green means go, it don't mean slow
Orange means slow, it don't mean go
And red means stop or I'll call the cops."

It keeps them busy while we are waiting for the light to change instead of them whining "Is it going to turn soon?".

I think it is so sweet when my son falls asleep holding a stuffy. We were in bed watching Winnie The Pooh And Christmas Too, yes we were watching Christmas cartoons this early. While we were watching it Aidan asked me something that kinda through me off guard. In the movie Rabbit, Tigger, and Eeyore are awake when Pooh dressed as Santa shows up with the presents. Aidan said to me, "Rabbit isn't supposed to be awake when Santa comes, neither is Tigger or Eeyore. How come they are awake?". Yeah, that through me for a loop. It's amazing how kids catch on to these things.

SENSA Weight - Loss System

I've had such great success with SENSA that I honestly can't believe how easy it is. Since I started using SENSA I've lost a total of 36 pounds! The best thing about this, other then the amazing weight loss is that I never felt hungry or had to deny myself of any of my favorite foods.

SENSA is really easy to use. There is not counting points or limiting yourself to what you can or can not eat, all you have to do is sprinkle SENSA on top of your food. There are two compartments to the container. One labeled "SALTY" and one labeled "SWEET". What this means is that you sprinkle the "SWEET" section on all sweet foods and the "SALTY" section on all other foods. There is no taste to this so it doesn't change the flavor of your foods.

With the holiday season coming up I would love to lose a little more weight so I'm going to be using SENSA for the next three months. My goal is to lose 10 more pounds in the next three months. I want to look good for all those Christmas and New Year parties coming up.

SENSA is having a great special on right now. They are offering a 30 Day SENSA Trial Kit for free. SENSA has offered my readers a special bonus, if you click this link you will get 60 day supply instead and receive a $25 discount card to www.glow.com, an online makeup store that has an amazing selection of products. All you have to do is pay a shipping and handling fee of $4.95. You have 30 days to try the product free of charge. If you like it, then do nothing, and you will then be billed for 60 day supply. If you do not like it, they can return it within the trial period and not pay anything but shipping.

I will keep you updated on how I'm doing and if you would like to read how I did on the last time I was on SENSA click here.

Getting Older

Today I had to take my son to get registered for kindergarten. He just started preschool and already he has to be registered for kindergarten next Fall. While I was there registering him I was talking to the vice principal, an old family friend. She couldn't believe that Aidan was old enough to go to school already. I can't believe it either. It seems like just yesterday I had him. She also asked me when I was planning on having another one. I told her we weren't! I'm getting too old to do the 2 AM feedings again. Seriously, instead of buying diapers I should be buying wrinkle treatment. I'm getting too old to start all over with babies again. How about you, do you plan on having any more children?

This week's theme/prompt is - HEADS - "Cause". Make any kind of post using any form of the word "Cause."

There is one cause that I would like to talk about that doesn't get much attention, it is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Remembrance Day .

Unfortunately me like so many other women have experienced this. Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Remembrance Day is October 15th. It was created to "Pregnancy and Infant Loss promote Support, Education and Awareness for grieving parents nationwide (and worldwide)." On October 15th at 7 PM please light a candle for those grieving.

For more information about Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Remembrance Day and what you can do go to www.october15th.com.

"Why did you have to go away and leave your mommy so sad and blue?
I'm right here mommy with you always, I thought you already knew.

How come I can't see you or hold you close to me?
You do see me mommy, you just have to open your eyes and there I'll be.

I'm the sunrise in the morning and the sunset @ night.
I'm that star you see in the sky shinning o' so bright.

I'm that flower in your yard that bloomed the other day.
I'm the beautiful butterfly you stopped and watch play.

I'm that soft whisper you hear when no one's around.
I'm the warmth that heals your heart just when you begin to frown.

I'm the colorful rainbow you sometimes see right after a storm.
I'm always near you mommy, I just take many different forms.

I'm in each smile you make and kiss you give away.
I'm apart of you mommy, in every thought and word you say.

I see the tears you cry for me and hear you pray.
I wipe them away with my kisses and help you make it through the day.

We will forever be together this I know for sure.
God sent me to be with you in all that you will endure.

Mommy I wish you could see my magical set of wings.
Exquisite soft white feathers made from all of God's loving things.

I wrap them around you bringing comfort and healing.
As i engulf you let go all the pain your heart is feeling.

We meet in your dreams holding hand in hand.
We walk down beaches dragging our feet in the sand.

You also have some friends up here that love you so.
They watch over you where ever you may go.

So when your feeling sad and blue and think I'm not right here.
Just look around at all the beautiful things and know I am near."

Thrifty Thursday

One fact about kids that we all know is that they LOVE cartoons. A great way to save some money when buying your kids cartoons is to buy used/previously viewed ones. A lot of video rental stores sell previously viewed movies really cheap. I always buy my kids movies at our local movie rental store. A week or two after the movies comes out you can buy them for anywhere fro $5 to $10. My kids don't really care if the movie is used, all they care about it that they got the movie. Before you go out an buy a movie you should really check out video rental stores and see if they have it for sale previously viewed. You can really save a lot of money this way.

Stop back next week for more thrifty hints on how to save money.

This is one of the trees outside my house. All the leaves have changed colors to red, orange, and yellow. There are some trees in my yard that have actually lost all their leaves already so I'm really enjoying what's left of the Fall colors. The kids are enjoying playing with all the fallen leaves too. Is there anything funner in the Fall then making a big pile of leaves and jumping in them.

What do they say, 'X marks the spot'. I took this photo on the one and only day it was nice this week. It's been raining and cold all week. I've actually had to turn the furnace on. The weekend looks horrible too. I think it's about time to check out Orlando vacations because the weather is just too darn miserable here.
