Thank You
I want to send out a special thanks to all my friends who have asked about how my daughter is doing. She suffered another kidney infection last week and missed the whole week of school. They come up on her quickly, but luckily we caught it in time this time so she didn't have to be admitted to the hospital like the time before. We did spend the night in the hospital emergency room, but luckily she was able to get comfortable enough on one of their exam tables so that it was bearable. She is doing so much better now and almost back to her old self. Hopefully we won't have to go through another kidney infection for a while. It's so hard to see your kids in pain. Thank you again for all who have asked about her!

Thank You
Pirate

Halloween is just a month away and Aidan decided he wanted to be a pirate this year, so I made him a pirate costume. I went to the dollar store and bought him a pirate hat and sword for $2. I had some left over fake leather material and made him a pirate vest and boots. I wish I would have taken a better picture of the boots because they turned out really good. I put his dress shirt and brown pants on him, tied a scarf around his waist and viola he's a pirate! It might just be me, but I think he's the cutest pirate ever!

This week's theme/prompt is - TAILS - "Photograph". Share any photograph and explain why you did.

This is a picture of my father. I know you all expected me to post a picture about my kids with this being a 'Mommy blog', but this picture is about my kids. My father was an amazing man who unfortunately passed away about 6 years ago. My parents had 8 children and although he worked full time shift work he was always there for us. All us of us kids seemed to have a special relationship with him. He was kind, caring, funny, and we could always talk to him. He was the type of parent that even if you did something bad you weren't afraid to tell him. What does this have to do with my children? I want to be the type of parent he was. I want to have my children be able to talk to me no matter what.

Mellow Yellow Monday

Fall is my favorite season, Christmas might be my favorite holiday, but you can not beat Fall. We love taking walks in the Fall and seeing all the beautiful color of the leaves changing. We recently went for a walk down to the brook and saw all the leaves had started to turn yellow.

My Monday
Where has the weekend gone? Monday mornings just seem to be the worst don't they? I have such a busy day today that I don't think I'm going to get it all done. Between taking Aidan to preschool, getting groceries, going to the post office, and then cleaning my house I don't think I'm going to have much time left over today. I also have to remember to research life insurance rates because I really think I'm paying to much with my current company. Oh yeah and I have to pick my sisters 3 kids up after school as I have them for the night. Hmmm....if there is anyway I can add a couple of extra hours to the day so I can get everything done? What do you have planned for today?

Nestea Vitao

I have always liked iced tea, but I used to only drink it in the summer months, but now I have discovered Nestea Vitao.Nestea Vitao is an iced tea drink that isn't just simply the same old ice tea that we are used to. Nestea Vitao is an enhanced ice tea that is made both tea and fruit juices. It comes in three amazing flavors.
Green Tea Fuji Apple - Made with green tea leaves and Fuji apple. This has a great apple taste to it with just enough hint of tea flavor. It's a perfect combination.
- A source of natural green tea antioxidants for the maintenance of good health
- Vitamins C and E, Calcium
- No artificial flavours, colours or preservatives
- Made with real fruit juice
- 90 calories per 341 mL can
- 120 calories per 473 mL bottle
Red Tea Acai Blueberry - Made with rooibos, the South African Red Bush, and acai berry and blueberry. To me this tasted very fruity with a hint of the tea.
- A source of natural red tea antioxidants for the maintenance of good health
- Vitamins C and E, Calcium
- No artificial flavours, colours or preservatives
- Made with real fruit juice
- 90 calories per 341 mL can
- 130 calories per 473 mL bottle
- Caffeine Free
mandarin orange. This one is my daughters favorite as it has almost an orange pop taste to it.

- Vitamins C and E, Calcium

Every time we have to go anywhere we have to take this ferry to get there. That's the price we pay for living in the country. I thought the sky looked kinda neat with the clear spot making a path telling the ferry which way to go. Yeah I was in the car when I took this picture, not driving mind you but in the passenger seat, that's why you see the antenna in the picture.

Thrifty Thursdays

I realize that isn't quite October yet and no one wants to think about Christmas yet, but the reality it that Christmas is VERY expensive and it's coming up. It may sound a little funny but in order to save money you should start your Christmas shopping now. What I mean is that when you see something on sale, like a certain toy you want to get for your child for Christmas buy it now. You never know if it is going to go on sale again and around Christmas time it seems like the prices on stuff seems to go up in price. I'm not saying buy all your Christmas shopping now, but when you see something on sale buy it. Not only will it help you save some money, it will also help save time and stress when December rolls around and you have to face the Christmas shopping rush at the malls.

Fall Decorations
I've noticed that a lot of people around my area are starting to put of their Fall decorations so I decided I would start also. I still need to get a bail of hay, more pumpkins, and a new scarecrow as our dog decided to attack ours last year. Do you put up Fall decorations?

My family really enjoys reading and here are the books that we are reading right now.

Aurora is into graphic novels and is reading one of her many Naruto books. Recently Aidan has been obessed with 'Olive The Other Reindeer' by J. Otto Seibold and Vivian Walsh. He's been asking us to read it to him every night for over a week.
What book are you reading?

Mellow Yellow Monday

I took my nephew Eric and my son Aidan for a walk up the road to where my brother was using his backhoe. My nephew had to have his picture taken with it while Aidan was more interested in the giant piles of dirt. Eric left a very happy little boy and Aidan left a very dirty little boy.

A Princess Party
My niece's birthday is in a few weeks and this is the cake she wants. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get the kit at the local cake decorating store because it looks too complicated to try and make it free hand. My niece is such a little princess. Everything has to be pink! She wants a princess birthday party and everything from the party invitations to the decorations to the cake. The cake looks like a lot of work, but my niece is definitely worth it.

Camera Critters #76

Camera Critters is a weekend meme, about what else but critters, created my very own BBFF, Misty.
My daughter took this when she was in Disney World last year. Man, warthogs are not the cutest critters out there are they. Well, okay Pumba is a pretty cute warthog. I'm using this picture because I had such a hectic week that I never had time to find a new critter picture to use for this weeks Camera Critters. It really was a pretty crappy week. I did learn something new though. I am never ever ever going shopping on Friday ever again. The stores were so crowded that I ended up knocking over a cardboard display filled with Gatorade bottles. Luckily there were plastic bottles or it would have been a big mess, but I was embarrassed none the less.

Thrifty Thursdays

This week's thrifty hints come from two of my readers.
Cheffie-Mom - "go through cookbooks and read recipes for the meals I want to cook each week. Then, I write the ingredients followed by a grocery list. This way I can see which items i can use and/or re-use throughout the week, and there is little to no waste"
Dimple - "I watch the sales at local grocery stores, and when something I use is at a bargain price, especially meat, I stock up. Then I store it in meal size packages until needed."
If you have any thrifty hints to share with us just leave them in the comment form and don't forget to stop by next week for more thrifty hints on how to save mone

Brrrr....It's Getting Cold!
I just checked my local weather online and look at this, tonight it's supposed to go down to 2 ºC! That's 35.6 ºF for my U.S. friends. That is almost freezing. I know I'll be freezing my toes off if I don't turn the heat on tonight. Seriously though isn't it just September? What happened to Indian Summer? If this weather keeps up we'll be getting that four letter S word sooner then not. I'm talking about SNOW! I'm seriously thinking about moving to some place warmer. Hmmm...I wonder if any of my blogging friends live in Orlando?

Preschool Rocks!
Today was Aidan's second day of Preschool. It's only twice a week and he's a little upset that it's not all week like his big sisters school. He loves Preschool that much! This morning he was actually all ready for Preschool at 8 AM. Preschool doesn't start until 9:30 AM and since it's only a 5 minute drive away we didn't have to leave for a while yet. He sat with his book bag on and waited while continually asking it if was time to go yet. I doubt he's going to feel the same way about school when he's older, but for now he loves going to school. I must admit his Preschool is pretty cool. The have miniature classroom furniture so that it's the perfect size for 4 year olds. Even the bathroom is miniature size too!He loves school so much that I hate to have to tell him that he has to wait until Monday before he goes again. The poor little guy is going to be so upset.

Rebel Stone And The Ghost Whisperers
I found this great new book aimed toward tweens that I want to share with you. It's Rebel Stone And The Ghost Whispers by Walter Rouzer. It's about a teen aged boy, but not just any teen aged boy. Rebel Stone is ghost detective and solves mysteries of the paranormal. As parents we all know the hottest type of books for tweens and teens now are paranormal ones. Basically anything from Harry Potter to Twilight is what kids that age want to read. The problem with some of these types books is that they are a little on the dark side. With Rebel Stone And The Ghost Whisperers you get the paranormal part, but you also get humor.
The author, Walther Rouzer, says this about the book...“My goal for the Rebel Stone series is to encompass mega doses of wholesome, original humor, thrills and adventure into every book.”
I certainly found this to be true and so did my 15 year old daughter when we both read it. Not only did both of us enjoy the book, but also my husband is reading it now. With Rebel Stone And The Ghost Whisperers not only do you get the thrills and chills, but you also get some chuckles and smiles.
You can purchase Rebel Stone And The Ghost Whispers online from such sites as Amazon and Barnes & Noble or check your local bookstore.

Here is my son Aidan on his way to his first day of Preschool.

Evidentally mommy was walking too slow on her way to into the school.

Aidan's favorite thing about Preschool was the sand table.

This is what he made at school and of course we had to put it on the fridge.
On the way home from Preschool I asked Aidan if he liked it and if he wanted to go back. He said he loved it and wants keep going. Good thing because I already paid for it.

Mellow Yellow Monday

Although it may only be September by next month it will be cold enough for the kids to wear hat and mittens so I started my annual knitting. I made this SpongeBob Square Pants hat from a pattern I found here. I did change the pattern a tiny bit because it calls for circular knitting and I hate circular knitting so I made it on two needles instead.

Ever since we saw reindeer's at the zoo my four year old son has been asking to watch Christmas cartoons, especially 'Olive The Other Reindeer'. I must admit this one sure doesn't look like Rudolph, but really Olive?

This week's theme/prompt is - TAILS - "Decision". Tell about a time when you had to make a "Decision."
As parents we make decisions all the time regarding our children. Recently we made he decision to send Aidan to Preschool. Preschool in our area isn't mandatory and therefore we have to pay for it, but we decided that it would be good for Aidan to go. I can count on one hand the number of times Aidan hasn't been with either one of his parents or had a babysitter therefore we think that going to Preschool, which is only twice a week, will be a good way for him to get used to being without us and preparing him for Kindergarten next year.
