Sky Watch Friday

This is the main church in my parish. It's actually the oldest Anglican church in New Brunswick. It was built in 1789 by the Loyalists. On Sunday there is a special service that the kids in the confirmation class are participating in. It is the celebration of St. Francis of Assisi and the Blessing of The Animals. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and everyone is encouraged to bring their pet to get blessed. All of the kids in confirmation class will be participating in this service and Aurora will be giving a special sermon on why it is important to take care of our animals as they are not just animals, they are also Gods creatures. I'm hoping I will be able to get some pictures of the service if my minister approves.

I am guessing Aurora belongs to you?

It's nice that churches bless animals on St. Francis's feast day.

Happy skywatching.

My first school was a Franciscan one. The friars used to visit in their brown robes and bare feet in sandals in all weathers. I remember singing the Franscisan hymn, it was our school hymn. All Creatures of our God and King.
