Blueberry Dessert

When I was growing up we always loved this time of year because it meant blueberries. My father always made this special yet very simple blueberry dessert. It's called different things by different people, Blueberry Bangbelly, Blueberry Grunt or Blueberry Dumplings. We always called it Blueberry Bangbelly and we all loved it when my father made it for us.

Here is a really simple recipe for Blueberry Bangbelly. - I always double or triple this recipe because it gets eaten so fast, but here is the original recipe.

4 Cups of washed and cleaned blueberries.

Place blueberries in pot with -

1/2 Cup of water
1/2 Cup of sugar

Cook over medium heat until it's a gentle boil like this.

While the berries are cooking make the doughboys for it. You can use a doughboy recipe or you can cheat like I do and use tea biscuit mix. I use the directions for the biscuits and add a touch more milk to it.

Drop the doughboys by tablespoons into the boiling blueberry mixture.

Quickly cover the pot as soon as the doughboys have been added and turn down the heat to low-medium. Cook for atleast 15 minutes without removing the cover.

It should look like this when they are done.

Service hot, add ice cream and enjoy.

oh wow! the final one with ice cream on top would surely taste divine! We don't have blueberries here, at least this particular berry is not grown here. :(

Blueberries are not so popular over here, I'd not even heard of or seen them till a few years ago.

I've never even tried them yet as I think they are rather expensive.
