Extinct 1922, North Africa

Extinct 1944, North Atlantic Islands

Extinct 1649, Madagascar

Extinct 1883, South Africa

These are just a few of the statues of the extinct animals in The Vanished Kingdom. I still have a lot more pictures to post from our trip to the zoo. Actually I took so many pictures of the zoo I need to buy a new memory card for my camera.

What an interesting exhibit. The Barbary Lion made me sad. That bird? I hate that its gone but WOW it was scary looking.

Do they have a display for the Dodo bird? It's my favourite. Of course it's really it's own fault that it's extinct. It wasn't smart enough to run away from the humans invading it's habitat. Plus I heard somewhere that they made a really tasty stew.
I soooooo want to see the ELEPHANT BIRD - ALIVE!!!
That is so neat... it almost takes you back in time.
(LOL I know what you mean about needing more camera memory cards!)

That is SO neat! What a great display and tribute. I wanna go to the zoo too - but Hubs is a funsucker and says "Once you've seen one zoo, you've seen them all." Funsucker!
A sad message but an important one.
Glad you took your kids to such an exhibit. Some people might shy away from such stuff.
Wow. That elephant bird looks scary!
