This week I wanted to show you our pet red eared turtle, Alex. We got Alex about a year ago and he has grown quite a bit. The kids love watching him swim around in his tank, but they aren't allowed to touch him very often and only when we are with them. It isn't too hard to take care of him, but he does require special food, water treatment and pet supplements.

oh...that is cute turtle :D great post, tammy.
This is so true. They are really easy pets. My aunt has one which grew to a size where the shell alone is bigger than her palm and fingers stretched out.
It looks like our tortoise in paddy field. Cute tho! :)
Since its a turtle, do you use salt water?
Alex is a very cute turtle! He has grown a lot in a year.
Hi Tammy, thanks for your nice visit. You have a great weekend as well.
That's a really cool pic of your little froggy! :)
Wow! He's cute and he's grown a lot. Very cool pet.
Super shot of your tiny turtle.

Wow... Alex grew a lot in one year! The "today" photo really shows off his beautiful coloration.
special turtle - like your post on kids made me laugh a lot !!
What an adorable little turtle!
I love turtles!
You are going to need a bigger pond. Nice.
Come visit my critters,
Troy
Wow, he did get big. My college works with the rescue of 100s terrapin turtles each year. It is fun and rewarding to work with them.
It's SOOOOO cute!
He's so cute! And he's grown a lot in a year.
He has really grown a lot. Thanks for sharing!
Also thanks for your visit to my blog, In answer to your question:
Pennsylvania Elk are not dangerous in most cases except that one wants to exercise caution around the bulls during the mating season, or rut in September and even then most will not threaten a human, but it pays to show them plenty of respect and keep a safe distance. The only injury I have heard of resulted from someone using a bugle to call one closer in a attempt to get a dramatic photograph. Instead he got a broken leg.
I used to rear one exactly like this turtle when I was a kid but I don't like it when it grown up much later, hehehe....I gave to someone already!
Dora:)
I had two turtles about ten years ago. And boy did they grow!!! I ended up giving them back to the pet store cuz I didn't want them anymore.
OMG so tiny and cute!
Btw, have an award for you! :)
Hi Tammy. Wow, that's amazing development. I suddenly miss my little turtles who passed away a few months ago.
He's AWESOME!!! I LOVE his colors and markings! I can't wait to meet him in person *waving* HI ALEX!!!
Good night Irene has he grown! I had red sliders as a kid and when they'd get that big we'd take them to the Civil War fort down the road and put them in the moat. There were red ears the size of dinner tables in that moat, since everyone else did the same thing.
So tiny he must have been well looked after to grow so big
Oh my goodness he is adorabel. red ears how cute
So is this growth exponential? Wow! That little guy sure does eat well. So how big will he get?
awwww that is soooo cute... what a development!!! :)

He is so sweet. I had a turtle for 18 years until my brother took him outside and lost him! He was my first pet so I definitely have a special affection for turtles.
I LOVE your red-eared turtle. He's so tiny but beautiful! My boys would love a turtle...and I could definitely go for one of those over a snake or spider or something.
