MAKING COFFEE IS DANGEROUS IF YOU'RE 14

I asked my dear sweet 14 year old daughter to make me a cup of coffee. She doesn't make the best cup of coffee, but hey at least I'm being waited on right? So she's in the kitchen and all I hear is her screaming "There's a fire!". I get up and run into the kitchen just in time to stop her from throwing water on the stove. It seems there was some grease on the burner left over from supper and it caught on fire. I grab the salt and start dumping it on it and fortunately it was just a small fire and it went out quickly and not much of a mess. This is when I go on and explain to her "NEVER EVER THROW WATER ON A GREASE FIRE". She was totally bewildered by this fact, but at least she knows now. I think from now on I'm going to make my own coffee.

When my oldest was a teen, he liked baking potatoes in the microwave. One day he decided to cook one longer cuz he wanted to outside crispier.

I go in the kitchen and see the potato on fire in the microwave and yell to him to grab the flour.

He runs and grabs a vase of dried flowers I had. DUH! LOL :)

Luckily the fire went out when I opened the microwave door.

Good reminder, Thanks. We often forget these important things in the panic of the moment.

I'm glad everything is okay, but that was a funny post since you ended with "I'm going to make my own coffee."

Lucky for me my teenager is very adept in the kitchen. She's been cooking and baking since she was about 3, I think. Her first creation was a mini pizza. Now she can cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner alone!

Oh, and thanks for the reminder about the salt!

Wahh that's scary - one of my biggest fears is fire!

It's a blessing that it happened then, while you were right there.

she'll always remember what to do now

my son's adventures were always when I was at work, I grew to hate the sound of my phone ringing, it set off a bad feeling in my stomach and my head.

but he lived to tell all the stories.

It's a good thing you stopped her in time.

I'm tagging you!

So glad everything turned out okay! I was intrigued by the title of this post, considering that my 10-year-old daughter often makes me coffee on the weekends (she's been well trained on how exactly to do it). But I never would've thought of this possible outcome!
This is what I love about bloggyland!
And thanks for stopping by!!

Thank goodness you were there! Now, she will know, and she will remember the lesson that her smart, hot, cool mom taught her ;-)
