MY DAY OFF

In case you are all wondering how my day off was....well, it sucked! It all started when I woke up this morning to find my 3 year old drawing all over the sheet and wall with a pen. Did I happen to mention that it was in my bedroom he did this? I thought, "Okay fine, kids do this sort of thing, it's my day off I'm not going to stress about it". So later while I'm sitting at the computer checking my emails when my Internet Call Manager shows me someone is calling me, but I don't recognize the phone number so I just ignore it. Guess who it was. It was my husband, our car broke down at the ferry on the way home from work (he works nights) and he was stranded. I don't know what he expected me to do since he had the car. He got a lift home from someone and the rest of the day was spent trying to get the car to the garage and get a new alternator for it. What a pain that was. So while he was out running around doing this I cleaned and cooked all day. So much for my day off. Maybe it's time for a new plan. Instead of a day off, I'm thinking about a girls night out. Just me and my girlfriends at the local pub, so if you are reading this Brandi we have to figure out a plan to convince the guys to let us go out while they stay home with the kids. Any ideas ladies? How do you convince your husbands to let you go out with the girls?

poor thing! don't we just hate it when all these things happened on our off days? perhaps you could send the kids to a friends house or have hubby take them to the park so you can have a girls outing.. :-)

Tammy, that sounds like a good idea. I haven't had a night out in ages.

Happy weekend.

Sorry your day off sucked!

I don't have to do anything to convince my husband. I just give him one look and he tells me to go. I think he's afraid of what will happen if he doesn't roll with it.

Aww, that really stinks...sorry. Hopefully today will be better.

aw, that's terrible! what bad luck.

How about if you had a couple of the kids have a play date? then the husbands could hang out together and watch tv or whatever they do? There's more incentive when the guys have something interesting to do.

OR, do something on a weekend. Have a playdate amongst the kids out somewhere, like a museum or movie?

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you weren't able to enjoy your day off. I hope you get a chance to go out with the girls soon!

I don't ask when I go out, I just let Ron know that I'm going. He may complain about having to put the kids to bed on his own, but I do it myself most of the time when he's working late, so I don't have a lot of sympathy for him. :)

A girls night out sounds fun! I'm sure you won't need to convince your hubby to get out. Everyone needs some time :0)and now that I have spent 7 full hectic days with my hubby and four kids I need some time away LOL

take care

I'm sorry your day off didn't go as planned. Why do these things always seem to happen?

My husband doesn't care when I go out. Actually, he thinks I should go out more often, because I never do. Of course, our kids are old enough to take care of themselves.

LET you go out??? He helped create them, he can take care of them for one night! You take care of them everyday. That's all I've got to say about that :-)

Aargh! this is why I hate weekends too! My kids drew all over the walls 2 weeks ago and then last week my son drew with chapstick all over another wall. Aack! Hurray for magic erasers though!

I just tell the hunny I want to go out. It's not like he's going to fire me. Wouldn't that be nice? "You leave this house and you're fired! You'll never watch the kids, cook or clean again!" Not gonna happen. Darn. They're called Mental health breaks, and it sounds like you need one.

OMG! I would have been so pissed about the drawing over everything... I'm sorry that happened and caused you extra work. Time to hide the pens, huh?

Well, when my husband and I were together I didn't convince him. I simply told him -- in advance -- that I had made XYZ plans and if he was available. If not then we should make arrangements. He always made himself available. I also knew when he didn't have something planned so it was a little trick! :-) However, I rarely went anywhere so he normally didn't mind anyway!
