My daughter loves the group Nickelback and wanted me to download her CD onto her MP4 player. Sure, no problem I thought, I already put a bunch of her CD's on her MP4 and it won't take long to do it. Nope, it won't work! It seems that the Nickelback CD has some sort of copy protection on it that won't allow me to use Windows Media Player to download the songs onto my computer. It won't even run on Windows Media Player. I've tried googling the problem to see if anyone knew how to do it, but it just seems that a lot of people are upset by this fact with no answers on how to do it. If you know how to do this without breaking any CD protection laws let me know.

Sorry I can't help you with this.
Thanks for sending me to Irene's blog. It has great information. I'm applying for the one you told me about and another one if I can get my writing samples together ... if the kids would just leave me alone for more than 5 minutes than maybe my brain will work correctly! :-)
Thanks again! Have a great night!
Your daughter has immaculate taste in music. No appreciation of modern rock is complete without Nickelback.
And that's got nothing to do with the fact that my next novel is partially set in Canada!!
Petula - You're welcome!
David - A person can't call themselves a true Canadian unless they like Nickelback. Those Canadian boys ROCK!
I have never had that problem. We rip all of our CDs to the computer, and I hope this doesn't mean it's going to start being a problem. That would just be terrible!
If I hear of a fix for this I will let you know.
I'll either catch up with you on chat tonight or tomorrow, or I'll e-mail you to talk about a solution to this.
By the way - tell her that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Nickelback! My idea of an ultimate concert would involve Bon Jovi, Chris Daughtery, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Sugarland, Little Big Town, and Martina McBride! Hehehehe - that's my 'dream ideal concert' LOL
Love ya my BBFF Moron!!! Gotta call my dad in a few minutes, so if I don't talk to you tonight - I will definitely catch up with you tomorrow! I've missed you more than you can imagine!
By the way, it's an unwritten rule that BBFFs are permitted to post super-long comments, right? Cuz, if not, I'm in trouble *giggle*
If I'm not mistaken, some discs now come with some form of mechanism in there that disallows downloads. So, you may not be able to find a way around it for the time being.
I'll ask my hubby about it. He's pretty good with stuff like that.
We both love Nickelback by the way!

I have a chris cagle CD that does the same thing. If you find a solution, let me know!
You say that you, "know everthing", therefore you should know that what you are trying to do is, if not strictly illegal, certainly wrong. As a parent you should set the example for your children. You must not allow a Nickleback cd or song to ever be played anywhere. Ever.
