RATS

I recently did a meme called Eight Things About Me. I was checking out the people I tagged with this meme to see what they wrote and one of them said that they hated rats. I didn't find this unusual because a lot of people don't like rodents. Me on the other the hand, I am scared of snakes. I run screaming like a little girl whenever I see one, but rats don't bother me. When I read their post I remembered something that happened a few years ago involving a rat. My brother was living with me and my husband. He's my little brother, but there is nothing little about him. He's over 6 feet tall, weighs about 200 lbs of solid muscle and is a black belt in karate. Since my husband works nights having my brother live with us gave me a sense of safety at night. If anything happened, like someone tried to break in , my brother could protect me and my kids. I thought great a big strong guy to protect us. Yeah, I soon found out that the size doesn't matter when it comes to rats. Our neighbor has a chicken coop and he had rats because of the chickens. One night in the middle of the night my brother knocks on my bedroom door waking me up. He's freaking out because there is a rat in his room and he wants ME to go do something. What the heck am I suppose to do, he's the guy right? Well, I ended up putting some thick gloves on and eventually caught the rat. I brought it out into the kitchen where he stayed because he was too scared to go back into his bedroom and showed it to him. He freaked out even more and ran out of the kitchen like a little girl. I took it into the bathroom and held it in the toilet until it drowned, then took it outside for my husband to bury in the morning when he can home from work. Man, what a girl he was! To this day my brother won't even go near my daughters hamster. My father always told me I was his best son which I always found really funny because I am a girlie-girl except for when I was helping my father, that and the fact that I have four brothers. I guess that night proved to me that I can take care of myself and I don't need to depend upon a man to save me. It's a pretty good feeling!
